A question for the legal eagles on here.
With my partner I bought a used car from a private seller at his home last week using cash.
I was not offered a receipt at point of sale nor did I remember to ask for one at the time.
The V5 reg doc was completed and signed by both of us and I hope that he has sent his portion off as I have mine ( recorded delivery)
Realising later that I didn't have one I rang the guy up and asked for him to post one to me ( 200 mile round trip to his house) to which he agreed.
Unfortunately it has not arrived. I have rung again and reminded him on the answerphone.
My question is if this receipt is not forthcoming can I rightfully/legally demand one and what action would I need to take to if he refuses or does not comply?
no you have no legal right to a receipt,so nothing can be done if he fails to supply
as for wanting it for re-sale time, why, nobody is going to care what YOU paid only what THEY are going to payI
