sorry to butt in but she was organised in the fact she placed an order to be delivered!
im so sorry op that people have slated you for the fact that you cant stock up your kitchen, and that isnt a disaster compared to other things going on in the world.... to you it was a disaster, i know if my children were without food i would class it as a disaster too!!!

asda are rubbish, their customer service leaves an awful lot to be desired.I used their delivery service once and NEVER again. i stick to tesco, they do make mistakes but they do rectify them afterwards and customer service is alot better than asda.
chin up, sign up to tesco and ocado, go through quidco, get some good money off coupons for being a new customer etc and just learn from it that asda seriously cant be relied upon. Not criticising, but maybe keep an emergency pack of porridge oats or weetabix incase something like this happens again.

For those that thinking of trying homeshopping here a few honest tip's for surviving a home shop :)
If you use the morning delivery slots, you will have a chance more missing/sub items and shorter dates, the next day picking is started during the nightshift hours so the morning home shop deliverys are ready to go or gone usually before the stores daily delivery's are in.

With an Asda home shop DO allow substitute item's especially on 3 for £10 wines. you wont lose out on sub's with as a sub is always of a higer value, yet you are charge for the item you requested, they can be returned with the driver if not required and a doorstep refund can be given. On 3for £10 wines if you don't allow a sub you will be charged full price for the other 2 bottles.

Supermarkets carry very little backstock as delivery's are done no-stop thru the day (and night where allowed) a late bread/milk delivery will throw a spanner in the works and have a knock-on effect with homeshop, same with delivery driver's sometimes traffic is heavy or they suffer a breakdown can't be helped, unless in a mobile blackspot there is no excuse if they haven't phoned ahead to let you know.

Most shopping is picked from the store front, so picker are in a way competing with other shoppers to collect your shopping before someone comes along and clears the shelf of a bargin buy. there is no guarantee you will get your bargin regardless if you homeshopped or came instore, sometimes when its gone its gone.

Your shopping is divided into 11 groups, BWS, grocery, chilled, frozen etc etc, and is picked by several people, mistakes are sometimes made...to error is human after all.
Likewise sometimes communcation fails between the CS desk and the store you shopping comes from and messages are not passed on.

If a mistake has been made please give the store a chance to sort it, rather then screaming down the phone because your lettuce got lost in transit, will will try are best to rectify but we are only human. all in all we get it right more then we get it wrong, you will find threads saying how lousy homeshopping is but that is the minority mistake's do happen but most are very happy with the service

By no definition of the word is this situation a "disaster"

    http://disaster.askdefine.com/

It was an inconvienience, but not a disaster.

Bad organisation? Well maybe, but if you've been using a home delivery service for months without problems, you would have no reason to think that you would have problems this time.

To op, i too have done that in the past and had the same problem with asda. It is hard as well when you only have a certain amount of money like that or it you live too far from a shop to be able to easily get food. I think asda can be really lazy both when it comes to keeping in touch and actual delivery.

The other week my delivery was an hour late, the drive was moving stuff about in the van and then he gave me my stuff (huffing and puffing, with a bit of an attitude problem) and after he left we noticed that some things were missing, so i called him up and told him and he refused to beleive that he had the items and wouldnt even check, so we called cs who said they wouldnt be able to deliver the items next time a van was in my area and that they would refund it. Still not good enough though in my opinion, there were components for meals missing and it meant 3 of the 7 days meals were un-makeable.

Agree 100%, the OP said "have been using Asda for my home delivery for months and although there have been many little hitches, nothing major" , so they were possibly expecting to be missing 1, 2 or 3 meals , but not missing altogether "not 100% reliable " is completely different than not turning up altogether!!!

I'm amazed where you manage to store all your shopping however, as it sounds like you never run out of a specific item when the shopping comes!!

I've had a similar problem with Asda home deliveries, and as usual got the 'goodwill' vouchers, was happy on that ocassion though, as they'd completely screwed up the order on their system and managed not to charge us for it as well!

Just loving all the 'I'm a better mum/organiser than you are posts, not to mention the disdain because someone dared to use the word 'disaster' in her thread.

You posters should ask the mods if you can become board guides and vet every post so it's upto your standards, see how you get on.

    *sigh*

    Happy moneysaving all.

At the end of the day, if you want something done do it yourself & don't rely on a bloke in a van to bring it to you.
  • and also if you have nothing nice to say then dont say anything at all :money:
