How long will your referral take to come through? I think I would be inclined to book with another GP and print off the NHS guidance and take it to show them.

This time i took myself for a Dr's appt at 5 weeks and was tested at the same time - the Dr agreed that it should be looked at but wouldnt automatically up it.
My TSH levels have always been a subject of argument as the Dr kept telling me I was 'borderline' - I have had symptoms of hypo for years and kept ignoring them and when I did go to the doctors and got finally tested for things the Dr seemed to think this was some kind of coincidence !
Anyway, when I was first prescribed 50mg my TSH levels were 4.8 (it varies from area to area but generally they dont like you to be over 2 during pregnancy) my last levels came back at .5 which is too low really so the Dr advised to stay as is and be tested every 4 weeks.
I have never seen an endo, I agree with the Dr that they will be the better people to speak to but if you have to wait 6 weeks to get an appt thats pretty pointless. The first 12 weeks are the most important in terms of fetal growth as they are relying on your thyroid levels during the vital development stages.
If i were you I would print off the info you have found and see a different Dr, when did you have your levels checked last ? can you remember what they were ? Does your current dose keep you quite consistant or are they up and down anyway ?
feel free to pm me
Thanks for the replies ladies, had to dash out as soon as I posted yesterday, and got back late.
I took the guidance document with me to the GPs and she read it, and then said that it wasn't their procedure to increase the dose before referring to an endo (despite that being exactly what the guidance says to do).
My dose is 150mcg, and has been stable for the last 4 years, no idea what my TSH level is though, they never tell me the numbers. I had it checked after I came off the pill, so it's been done quite recently. I think if the referral comes through by the end of the week, and the appointment is relatively soon, I'll just go with that. If there's no sign of a letter or the appointment is really far off, I'll ring the practice and chase it up.
It's annoying, as it's my regular GP who I normally really like, but she just seemed totally uninterested in the whole thing
Anyway, we told my parents yesterday, they were dead chuffed. It will be the 5th grandchild for them  We're telling MIL today, I know she's going to be super excited, 1st grandchild on DH's side. My only concern is that she's awful at keeping secrets, she's told us some stuff that I know DH's brother told her in strict confidenceWe decided not to tell all our siblings just yet (I have 4 sisters and a brother, DH has 2 brothers and step-sister) but I bet she's going to tell DH's brothers.
FIL is away so DH is telling him over the phone on Monday when he gets back from his trip. Probably safer for our eardrums, as DH's stepmum is so overexcitable!
woke up at 520 this morning with really bad trapped wind painsSeems to be my only symptom so far apart from sore nipples. Think I need to invest in some Windeze
Hope you all have a lovely SundayLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
littlemoog,
One thing I remembered when I couldnt sleep last night was being told that its more of a concern when you arent taking ANY levothyroxine, or are only on very low doses of 25mcg.
I hope your letter comes soon !
Im still waiting for my scan appt, I am 11 weeks tomorrow and thought I would at least have a date to work towards ! So we will both be post hunting this weekBow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Hi mishka - I'm still waiting on a scan date too - will be 10 weeks on Monday, and had my booking in appointment when I was just over 8 weeks, so thought I would have heard by now too. I don't know whether I should text the midwife and ask her how long I can expect to wait before it comes through or not. It would be nice to know, as Moon and I will need to take time off work to go.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

Hi everyone
Hope you are all good?
Whelshgirl, so so sorry to see your news. Take care Xx
I am kind if laying low, not sure what to think at the moment. Still not slit of symptoms, I'm 8 weeks today. My noonday are slightly tender and a bit fuller but they don't hurt. I sometimes feel very slightly queasy if i don't eat, but nothing major. I can't help but worry. I might book a private scan this week.
Should I have heard about my booking in appointment by now? I called the Dr's almost two weeks ago saying I need to be referred, but only spoke to the receptionist. Maybe ill give them a call tomorrow
On another note, Emsbet has inspired me to start knitting so I am going to give that a go this week to keep busy

Sorry some of you are worrying about appointments. It seems to vary area to area. I had my booking in at 10+3 weeks, and my first scan at 13+4, and both arrived at the same time, i ddnt get either appointment till i was gone 9 weeks, and had waited 6 weeks from referral by my gp to get the dates.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

We needed to book the time off too, I know I have to see the consultant who only has clinics on a thursday - so if its this thursday I will be 11+3 and OH cant come as its too short notice to change day off. Much more likely is next thursday so will be 12+3 - just want to know so I can count down, it also would have been nice if they hadnt said they would get me in sooner rather than later
If they are checking the nuchal fold at the same time as dating sexymouse it needs to be 11-13.6 weeks, if they get it too early they will need to call you back and re-do so some areas always try and get nearer 13 than anything else.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -
Thanks for that info mishka - I will be 12 weeks the day after Mother's Day, so looks like I may have to wait longer than I thought then. Oh dear, just worked out that 13 +6 would be April Fool's Day!:eek:Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

In our area you have to ring up the scanning dept and book your own scan, I'm not having the nuchal folds part of the scan though and am now counting down the days to my booking in appt and my scan. You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

The midwife said to me at my booking in appointment that I'd hear through the post, so I assumed she was going to book it, as she had the form with my signature for consent for the blood test etc too.
I've just been saying to Moon that if it were on April Fool's Day, they could have a lot of fun with the scan if they were having a joke - "these kittens are progressing beautifully!" ... "How nice to be having triplets!" etc etc.:rotfl:It is unlikely that I'd get my scan on that day though, as it falls on a Sunday, and I assume that most scans are performed on weekdays.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170 -
Morning ladies
We told DH's mum yesterday, she seemed sort of pleased, but not as excited as I thought she would beHope she'll get a bit more excited as we go along. DH's brother came for lunch with his new girlfriend, who's very nice (and an improvement on the previous crazy vegan).
Yesterday I had awful bloating and trapped wind, to the point where I had to use a hair bobble to extend my jeans. Today it's all back to normal and my jeans are loose again and I've had to put my belt back on!
Had to get some new bras over the weekend as I was already spilling out of my old ones - am now a G cup  hope these will last for a couple of months though.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160
