Less than 12 weeks pregnant club! 2

Hi ladies!
I’ve been well off the radar, lurking and just keeping myself busy to speed up this whole preg lark – and now all of a sudden my 12 week scan is here on Tuesday and I’m a bit nervous! They ended up giving me a scan at 8 weeks due to bleeding and all was well and just one in there – I’m due valentine’s day!
Only read back a few pages, but thought I’d respond to jannine’s question about body after pregnancy – this is the upfront honest truth of it, and after discussing with some other 1-year-on mummy’s, it seems to be the same all round:
(I was a size 12 before preg, gained 2 stone, and breastfed for 8 months)
- Straight after the birth – achy all over, and a bit sore downstairs – 2 to 3 days
- Empty pouchy belly for a couple of weeks
- Then it seems to right itself pretty quickly –I’d say I was back in my pre-preg jeans in a month or so (same experience for all of my friends who breastfed – the weight slips off)
- 1 year on the after-effects for me are – small “pouchy” skin underneath belly button – like a couple of inches of flesh you can pinch, no stretchmarks but slightly wrinkly skin on the pouchy bit if pinched, and I can ‘feel’ my body inside a bit more – like bloating, gas, etc, is all much more noticeable than before. Oh and I’ve grown much bigger faster at the start of this pregnancy - I think due to not fully recovered stomach muscles (I didn’t show with first preg til 16 weeks plus). So the downside is mostly the belly bit, and very slightly saggier boobs for me
- On the plus side – I’m so much more toned on the legs and arms – due to now walking miles a day with a buggy and carrying around my lump of a one year old. I’m also fitter due to running around after a child who is determined to get herself into chaos at any time!
I think I could easily be back to almost my pre-preg body if I had spent the last 3 months working on toning my stomach muscles instead of getting pregnant again, so I wouldn’t worry about it too much. HTH!
Hope you all have a fab sickness-free weekend and prep yourselves for the heatwave next week. PS sunbathing preg bellies - yes or no?0 -
Mishka I know what you mean. I've had some nausea but not much and at the moment I am happy to have more so I know things are going ok- I'm sure I'll feel differently after a few weeks of MS!
Bit worried about the idea of feeling sick on my commute to work - have a 30min train journey each way on a packed commuter train!
Babybump thanks for the info re body returning to normal post- pregnancy! Good luck with your scan on Tuesday!
Went out for curry for FIL birthday last night and I was so bloated before we began that I really struggled to eat much.
Took my last two HPTs this morning- a CB plus and a CB digi- the CB plus came up almost instantly and the digi said 2-3 weeks so I'm happy now I've seen that! Took a picture of them so I can still look once the digi stopped working!
Hope you all have great weekends and those with MS feel better soon

I read a few posts that mention an increase in sickness is a good sign? Can someone explain that to me as i'm 7 weeks today and the sickness is getting worse. I've not actually been sick yet just feel it a lot and especially on a night time its terrible!Mummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas

Its normally considered a good sign as its the pregnancy hormones that cause the sickness, hence more sickness means an increase in the hormones.

Not necessarily. Some have no sickness whatsoever in pregnancy and have healthy pregnancies. You have to be careful not to worry those who are not experiencing sickness.
Thanks Lucy, I was going to post something similar! I have had no sickness and spent the vast majority of the weeks before my first scan paranoid that something was wrong as I wasn't feeling sick.
Every woman and pregnancy is different - some unfortunately experience bad sickness, others not so much but whatever is normal for you is normal! If people are experiencing very bad sickness they should go to their GP as there are tablets etc that can be prescribed that may help control it. I've heard that the travel sickness wrist bands you can get can also help.:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -

which is why i specifically put "its normally considered" in response to the statement "an increase in sickness is considered a good sign"
It wasnt a general statement about morning sickness, I also didnt state that those without sickness will have unhealthy pregnancies !
I wont bother replying in future if I'm going to be told off :mad:Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais0 -

Aww do keep replying and dont take it to heartI looked it up and for those who experience an increase in symptoms it is an increase in the pregnancy hormone causing them so you was right. Doesnt mean the other ladies should worry though as we all get diff symptoms

My extreme hunger and nausea lasted from 6 wks to about 10 before it started easing up. Worst was 8-9 wks. I'm almost at 12 wks now and have good and bad days but it's more manageable than it was before. Hth xCurrent Mortgage balance - £363,785.35/£420,000 (highest point Oct 2022).0
