hate to ask but what happens in that case - if you have no bleeding etc and the baby has died do you have to have an operation? sorry to ask about something so sensitive - just wondered
As far as I know, if there's been no bleeding, spotting or cramping (ie, any signs that the miscarriage will happen naturally)then they'll arrange an operation (called an ERPC) to remove everything. It's quite a quick procedure as far as I know, most people are in & out within a few hours.
All mine have happened naturally, within a week to 10 days of spotting starting.
I'm thinking of hula too x0 -
I have had a few ERPC's .. the last one (I had been bleeding heavily for weeks but it wasn't shifting) I went in at 9am and left hospital at 12.. went to B&Q on the way home and bled for maybe 3 days after.. and was pregnant again 5 weeks later and all went smoothly bar a bit of spotting at 6 weeksish.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Hi ladies.
I am in for my erpc today, they wsnted to do it as quickly as possible.
I have to check in at 8.30 should be home by 5pm. I choose to have the procedure as i wanted done as quickly as possible and didnt want to wonder when things would happen.
The epu was so busy yesterday 4 and half hour wait to sign my consent. Sitting there trying to keep things together.
Sorry if this has upset anyone.
Thanks for all your best wishes. X0 -

Good luck for today Hula xx
11 weeks today and woke up this morning to brown dischargeAll my miscarriages started this way so can't help thinking the worst. Text my midwife at 8am and she text me straight back to say it sounds like old stuff being shifted about, and to rest up & try not to worry. Got my scan tomorrow but asked if I could have it done today, but she said they don't even have any emergency appointment available until late tomorrow morning (my scan is at 13.55) so I guess I just need to play the waiting game now. At least by the end of tomorrow I'll know either way. I've taken the day off work as I wouldn't be able to concentrate and would just keep running to the loo every 5 minutes. My boss was lovely on the phone bless her, we made each other cry
Hope everyone else is OK xx0 -
Thinking of you Hula. I'm glad they aren't making you wait for the op and I hope it goes as well as it can xx0

I got admitted to hospital yesterday afternoon - I sneezed and got an awful pain right accross my groin, turns out I've only got a flaming hernia! They've said I can have elective surgery to fix it at any time during my pregnancy under local anaesthetic, just not sure I like the idea of surgery at all but if I don't have it fixed it could get worse and then it'd be a major op to fix it! Going back up to the hospital today for an ultrasound, not sure what of and whether they are checking the baby, it didn't get explained to me at all. I've googled it and it seems to point towards hernia's getting worse the further along a pregnancy gets with the additional pressure etc so I don't know what to do

Hula I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what emotional pain you are going through. I'm glad you managed to get into the ERPC so quickly as it wouldn't be fair to just wait for the inevitable. I'll be thinking of you all day.
portsmouthali, fingers crossed the midwife is right and it's just old stuff leaving you and that your bean is healthy and sticky.0
