Friday 4th February - What small DFW things will you be doing today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D
Woooohooo, good morning it's Friday:beer: It makes getting up when it's dark and raining a little bit easier:o
So....hope you are all well and feeling cheery. I've had a good week - it's fab to feel quite well, was so used to feeling grotty. Anyway, must crack on with my list - not much planned today...work, finish at 2.30 today (:T)...home for a lovely evening with the girls home this weekend.
Ok, here's the list:

Hi everyone
What a wild day here!! Listened to the wind and rain all night! Craziness.
Visiting a friend this weekend so looking forward to chilling out at her new place. Think (window) shopping tomorrow afternoon but hopefully not too much trekking around as I've seen the forecast for the weekend
Listypoparoo:- Filling, cheap, healthy and tasty porridge for breakfast
- Wait till I get to work for tea
- Treat myself to a trip on the bus (small thing meaning not feeling deprived
) - will have a little suitcase, heels and the weather is WILD - v justifiable, methinks
- Claim the £2 coin on the living room floor for savings pot
- Pennies in the jar - almost full :T
- Not ironing my top
- Booked bus not train! Still about half price by the time I add in connections etc
- Have a chilled out day at work... Trying my patience atm...
- Take refillable water bottle
- Take wine from the fridge got cheap at Christmas - can't quite believe it's still in there!

So far I have:- checked banking - still just about in the black

- keep checking for surveys throughout the day
- use DH's car and his diesel
- read at lunchtime to avoid the shops
- go to free gym tonight - DS3 and his ex have arranged us to use a gym for free every Friday nght
- freezer dive for dinner
- write my weekend job list
- look at my 101 things list to see if I can do any over the weekend - getting a bit lax there!

Hi. I'm new to following this thread. What a great idea. I'm not actually currently in debt but I have been and it was a real struggle so now I do everything I can not to slide in to the overdraft or put spend too much on the cc that I can't pay it off. I have to think about every penny. So, can I join please?! I'm not exactly a dfw but an aspiring, have enough in the bank balance that it's not a constant worry wannabe!
This morning I have checked my bank balance and credit card balance. Realised that I will probably not be able to ebay enough to pay off cc (Jan sales shopping) with ebay profits this month. So, will have to tighten belt so I don't go into overdraft.
I'm away from home with work at the moment. Last night I raided the mini-bar . Not good for the bank balance or waistline so will go out to supermarket to replenish the items. And eat salad for the rest of the day. And not go out for drinks or dinner tonight. And use the free gym (??? Hmm, will I actually go?!)
Another thing, I will write a budget for the rest of the month to see how I'm going to stretch the pennies.
Have a great day everyone.Clothes challenge 2011 £254.08/£500!!!Toiletries challenge 2011 Trying!:j:T:j0 -

Oh DNMS, you did so well with your January Spending Diet too! Do you think this was a monetary rebound??Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

No I think it is more to do with I've put on weight since giving up smoking and can no longer pretend I'm a size 10 - clothes uncomfortably tight so I went out and bought some size 12s - I do desparately need some but I think buying in haste is no good. So keeping the jeans and retruning the others! will have to just keep looking till I find some things that are right. I also think the amount of stress I have been under at work recently and not drinking (becuase of meds) or smoking has meant I have had no form of stress relief so just eating lots of yummy things:eek:
But today is a brand new day - I am going to have some porridge, salad for lunch and make sure I start exercising again!DF as at 30/12/16
