Yeah DH is getting the snip too, he wasn't keen at first so I said i would get sterilised but he has come round to it, and it is easier for a man than a woman. I was told that he couldn't get it done until xx amount of months after the birth of the baby, is this true?
It probably varies depending on your health trust but it could be that they find people are more prone to wanting a reversal if they haven't waited?

  • My hospital have asked if I want to be steralised whilst I am having the C Section. It was all a bit odd to be honest and I wasn't expecting the question at all. I don't even really know how I feel about it as I haven't stopped to have a chance to consider it! :(

My sister was sterilised following a c section directly after the birth of her 4th child - guess it's easier for them to do it while they are there.
I wasn't asked before either of my previous sections but it's something I would like this time - am planning on speaking to my consultant about it.

Maybe?? It was someone at work who said her SIL had to wait 9 months after his DD was born but then he is in the army and in germany so maybe it is different. Who knows!

I read that some places wont do a Sterilisation after a Csection because everything is swollen to 100X its normal size.

My mum was going to have one if her 5th birth was a C-Section but it wasn't.

Interesting you've posted that. I don't how baby will be appearing, but if I have C Section I'm tempted to ask. I've not discussed with OH yet. I'm sure at 40 I won't be in any rush to produce another quickly/ever again as I've not exactly enjoyed this pregnancy.

She said she mentioned it because this will be my third C Section and if we wanted more children it would obviously become more dangerous. Now, although I don't want more kids I sort of sat there flabbergasted because a) it wasn't expected and b) I sort of thought (crazily) that there goes my femininity.

It was just all really weird and i'm not gobsmacked very much but I really was at that stage.

She did mention that the failure rate was a little higher because of the tubes' condition after pregnancy so doing it after the C Section whilst 'convenient' may also not be the right time.

I don't know. Something was playing on my mind and I don't really want to post it on a public forum.
