Does anyone else notice long-standing -ve points turning into +ve ones or is just me?

In other words "every cloud has a silver lining" but it make take time to come into play.

For example I have an expressive, easily-readable face which I have always hated coz it means people can tell your true feelings even when you don't want them too.
This is not often a problem for me coz I pride myself on being an open honest straightforward type of person but sometimes it has worked to my disadvantage - like in job appraisals :o

This is now a positive thing coz my 6yr old DS was recently diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome (high-functioning autism) and I have noticed that he can read my expressions alot easier than he can with most other people :D
This is something that is a big problem for people with AS so I'm glad that it isn't such an ordeal for him at home ;)

Another less obvious example was the fact that I was desperate for children when I was married and unforunately I lost 2 during pregnancy.
Later on I got divorced but this had nothing to do with this issue but with our basic incompatibility that was always there but took me along time to acknowledge :o
Anyway my seperation started amicably but quickly deteriorated so it was a very unpleasant experience.
I believe that even if I'd had kids, the marriage would've ended at some point and it would've been a heart-breaking thing for them to go through however old they were.
This is the "less obvious" positive aspect I was referring to.
I have had 2 kids in my current relationship (although we're not married... yet ;)) so it has made me appreciate how difficult and it would've been for them and I'm thankful I didn't have any reason for my ex to still be in my life in any way :)

Is it just me who sees things like this?
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs :p :rotfl:

  • I love this positivity of this thread! I am a great believer in seeing the best in things and I think people are not lucky or unlucky it's how they deal with things. People often say to me "you never have any stress or drama" and I think thats because I choose not to complicate my life by making a big fuss out of little misfortunes. Your positive outlook will bring you lots of happiness and good fortune. Have you heard of the law of attraction? Judging by your post it might be something of interest and rewarding for you.

Also, I have one of those faces which don't hide anything. Are you a cancerian by any chance? I have heard this is quite a common trait for cancerians but I don't know if theres much truth behind it :)

Great idea for a thread :T

I guess I'd say that my fairly obsessive list making has helped us control our finances and help us get out of (most) of our debt :D

The fact that we don't have any (desperately wanted) children of our own means that when I get sick OH only has to worry about me and the dogs and not childminders/schoolrun etc

The fact that our teenage (step)DD decided to go and live with her mother when she remarried a rich man with money to burn means there's no longer a queue for the bathroom and our food and energy bills have dramatically reduced. (we miss her terribly but my word the peace and quiet can be blissfull :o:rotfl:)

which leads onto: that the same (step)DD now has more disposable income than we do as a couple  and gives me all the 'posh' toiletries she buys, tries once and decides she doesn't like :D:D

The fact that I live so far away from my mum that we make an effort to call each other and I probably visit more often than I did when I lived less than 10 miles away :T

I don't have an expressive face though - I have one of those faces that always looks a bit lost :rotfl:

Ooooh! I don't normally hold much stead by these kind of things, but I am a cancerian too with my expressions always written across my face! Just can't hide a thing- which also means I am pretty darn honest.

Good positivity in this thread. Love it. I don't often dwell on the negatives though, normally too busy lurching from one crisis to the next ;)

You are definately not the only one who feels this way. I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. So when something doesn't go right I dont let it bother me too much anymore. I am of the mindset that something better will be round the corner.

5 years ago my life pretty much fell apart. I literally hit rock bottom. I thought that everything I had worked for and wanted had gone. However my life now is the happiest and most fulfilled it has ever been. Had it not been for that tough time I would be leading a very different existence and would never have realised my full potential.

Sometimes you have to experience the worst to appreciate life at its best :D

My OH is a cancerian and he is exactly like this, he is also a terrible liar(as in he barely ever lies but if he does its stamped on his forehead:D) He told a porky recently, a stupid fib that was quite harmless but i just looked at him and asked "Are you lying to me?" to which he instantly fessed up and looked extremely shamefaced. He blames me and said he was a good liar before he met me lol (he never was he always been very honest).

  • I'm another one who believes things happen for a reason, though it may not always be obvious at first. My fathr passed away when I was 20, been very ill for a long time, I was originally at uni, but had my DS. Though it was an accident if I didn't have DS at the time I would not have got to spend those last 5 months with him.

Also, I just can't lie, I go quite red, or at least feel I do so it's easy to see.

    I like this thread!

I am generally a positive person, my Hubby is not! Which can be quite a pain sometimes but I think in someways we balance each other out.

I have a face that always looks miserable! :( I have been told on many occasions that I look like a B*tch and that my personality does not match my face!! charming!
....not really sure how to turn that in to a positive!

i also like to have a positive outlook on life, if things were getting me down i would talk to partner but he knows the right things to say to cheer me up. i tend to see it as i have a fantastic partner,2 beautiful girls, our own home which we worked hard to pay for and a good family. we dont have much dosh but what we do have is priceless, i know there are people in the world who have no where near as much as us so i am grateful in that respect and my positive view is things can only get better

Ha ha! Was reading this thread thinking the same! Strangers have said to me in the street 'cheer up Love, it'll never happen'! I put it down to concentration!
