Taxi drives sometimes lose their way from the racetrack, but when they have a passenger, it's a whole different story!

Then they just lose their way and end up taking a longer route.

These are the same as the Smart Witness ones we have fitted to our cars. Cheaper, but bear in mind possible VAT, duty and returns problems.
    The man without a signature.
  • no prob with duty or vat £185.00 cheaper for 2 than smartwitness
  • How easy would it be to hook these up to a substantial hard drive in the car ?

I've loads of room in the car and would like to record multiple cameras akin to CCTV but from within the car.

Some !!!!!! smashed into my wing mirror the other day and I want any future twit banged to rights.

A hard drive will work fine in a car. I had a 2.5" 7200 RPM drive in my old Subaru for a couple of years. I drove that thing hard and I never managed to damage the drive. I also got rear ended a few times and it was still going.

Your problem will be hooking them up to the standalone camera devices, most of them seem to use MicroSD or similar. I'm not sure if anyone makes a MicroSD -> SATA bridge or if the devices would even support it.

My install was a full car PC install, which also wouldn't be suitable for your purpose as it would flatten the battery in a few hours.

In all honesty, you're probably better off just using these for recording driving, and point a webcam out of your living room window to monitor the parked car.

The Roadhawk system is supposed to be good - I know of someone who used it to prove that a dealer had been mistreating their car when it was in for a service (and there's that story of the Vauxhall VXR8 getting spanked by a dealer and caught on camera too)
