Incontinence wear for three year old

I was also told you can't get pull ups, only nappies - but I DID get pull ups and still do for my five and a half year old.
We are in England.
I had to argue a strong case for nappies being innappropriate for my child for several reasons, and I had two wrong deliveries of nappies before the incontinence service gave in and sent me a box of Pampers Easy Up Pants.
I went through the school nurse's office.0 -
my daughter lives in Barnsley. she had no nappy/ pull up allowance for her 4 year old. seems very hit and miss.0

This sort of thing really annoys me. Why is it so difficult for all of you to find someone who can help ? In my opinion social welfare was created for situations like this and it should be straightforward to get an assessment and then a reasonable and regular supply of nappies etc.
Good luck to everyone trying to get this sorted - my only advice is to make a nuisance of yourself until someone gets off their backsides and finds the solution for you.

I appreciate all your input and replies. Yes, sadly, it does seem to be a hit or a miss. My relative's HV didn't seem to be interested at all and the nursery want the pull up pants. I think this is because the little one has damaged motor skills and her walking is poor - she staggers and stumbles very easily. The pull up pants are less bulky to inhibit her mobility and they are easier to put on and take off etc. Thank you all, again, for the helpful replies. If there is any success I'll let you know.

Yes - I think you can request a change of Health Visitor. You could send a request via the Chief Nurse giving your reason. I worry in case there would be any repurcussions, though.0

OP might also also want to bear in mind the Disability Discrimination Act - reasonable adjustment might be that ordinary nappies are used not pull-ups. Just something else to add into the mix.0

I had a simular problem to this .My 13 year old had his allocation reduced as the school where toilet training and the the school nurse would not entertain upping it . In the end after checking that there are no NICE guidlines for children we wrote to the heath trust with a freedom of information request to find out what the rules were.
It seems that they followed the previous trust guide lines . We threated the school nurse with a complaint as dla is not for nappies etc gave proof and basically said "this is what i think ,prove me wrong."
We now have our choice of nappies .

I know DLA is not for nappies, and I know this isn't the subject of the thread, so apologies for going off topic... but your sister has applied for DLA for her child, hasn't she?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
