I sent him an e-mail asking him to get 3 botttles of Barolo and 3 each of the Shiraz and Cab Sauv. He phoned back to say that the Branch at Slough only ever had 1 check-out open, they only take cash or debit cards and there is always a huge queue of dodgy looking shoppers! I had to tell him to forget it, but what is your experience of shopping at Lidl ??
PS.
Must admit it was the first time i've been into a Lidl & was also taken aback with the big queue, only one till open, debit card or cash only & the fact you have to grab a carrier bag before you get past the till!
Needless to say i survived my trip & may be tempted to go back again if sometihng takes my fancy.
Still not tried the Barolo yet - waiting for someone (a guinea pig) to try a bottle first.Hmmmmmmm0 -

Not until now, disgusting, won`t be buying again. Defiantly NOT worth £7 a bottle, not even sure if I would put it on my chipsDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I bought a bottle out of curiosity when I was in for my usual weekly bits and bobs shop. Disappointing. Assuming it would be any good because it has a certain name on the bottle is a bit daft. Like saying all Claret is good! Had I paid £4.00 I'd have thought it was at least drinkable, but for £6.99 it's distinctly average at best. Typical Italian 'house red' that does improve slightly when left to breath for 30 minutes, but I wouldn't get it again. About 80 bottles at the Frome Lidl if you fancy chucking your money away ;-)0

I have to admit that it tasted like table wine to me, definitely not one I'd buy again unless it was priced at £1.99 a bottle and the in-laws were coming for dinner (they're philistines when it comes to wine lol!).
I'm off to have a glass of Chateau Talbot before dinner...0 -
Some wines are best left for a few years & judging from the last few posts, i'd suggest this is one of them.
Buy another bottle, leave it for a few years (if you can!) & then take another taste test.Hmmmmmmm0 -
Bought a bottle of Barberino Red wine today in Lidl, special offer £2.29. Seems ok to me, well the pc screen seems to be getting a bit blurry and iv'e still got half a bottle to go. Cheers0
