Good cars, and generally cheaper than their VW counterparts. Some drivers retain their usual "badge snobery", and avoid at all costs, but I think they're great cars.
  • Very good solid non nonsense cars imo.

Parts are plentiful and cheap from Euro Car Parts or German & Swedish if you are considering doing any servicing yourself.

You mention this is a second car, what is your daily?
  • octavia is a good allround family car. VRS has a bit of added fun to them. cheap to insure than many think they would be.

i have no problems with skoda and given the money to get one i would hapily have any model on the market.

It's an Audi with a different badge, so if you can get past the aforementioned badge snobbery, it is a fantastic car that will last and be reliable like it's expensive counterparts but cost less to buy & run.

Well used in the taxi trade these days. Which is usually a good sign.

Watch out for ex Taxis if going for a older high mileage

The L&K versions have loads of features
  • 2 people I know have had the deisel estate, one was the most expensive you could buy, he loved it in an unhealthy way, till it got t boned last year and written off!. the other was one up from the base model, both as far as i'm aware only saw the garage for a service and have never had to get any warranty work done
both peeps were / are well pleased with them
The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

  • Brilliant car, have 1 from new for 4 years, 47000 miles, diesel 1.9 saloon.

serviced twice due to variable service. no other garage visits.

would definitely buy another and would probably get an estate.

drive it at 55 and get 60+ to the gallon on 20 mile commute, even better on longer runs. Mate has the petrol vrs and it is a rocket ship but he is 20 years younger and refuels a lot more often!!
  • Had one of the early 1999 Octavia Estates (1.9TDi). Was a fantastic car, reliable, well put together, good dealer service, economical (50+mpg on mixed use). Should never have sold it for a Passat...

    Aren't the diesel variants a bit slow though...something like 13secs to 60?
