Why have I spent 10p?

Off subject really but when Mercury 1-2-1, now known as T-Mobile, started a revolution whey they first offered 'unlimited calls'. After 7pm, when it started, it was like a mad rush to make calls right on the dot of 7 or no signal. If I couldn't get a signal I had to go to the upstairs back bedroom, if that didn't work then I had to go to the back of the garden.
It was quite amusing, driving home from work I would see people walking in the road talking on their phones. Friends you hadn't heard from for ages (Or had been avoiding) suddenly started calling, just to use up the free minutes. If I remember correctly calls were then charged between 35p and 50p depending on your call plan. Real 'Unlimited' call plans were a novelty then.
Oh, for the good old days? I don't think so!

Very helpful, thanks.
I don't have the print out of my contract in front of me, but it wasn't clear that short numbers were chargable."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Hubs was on 3 then his contract came to an end and he was looking then to move to 02, but like an eejit he got seduced by a phone and 3 talked him into taking out a contract.
Only to find the phone in Question wouldnt work in our road
Would work at the end of our road and in the shop - but not our road
3 themselves finally admitted that the Ariel in that phone wasn't strong enough to pick up the signal from our nearest transmitter and that even then the new transmitter was completed,( at the end of our road) was completed, the phone sold to us still wouldn't work
Would they cancel the contract? Would they hell. Took two months with the phone going back and forth, threats to be passed to debt collectors (from them) Solicitors (us) before they cancelled it. Oh and they decided to black list us in the process
But no way would we ever go back to 3
Their small print is so tiny its almost invisible and their confusing terms and conditions are a mindfield0 -

3 are not alone as I found out.
In all network contracts, in the very, very small print it states that even though they have sold you the service, the network doesn't have to guarantee that you will receive a signal. Incredibly OFCOM doesn't have any problem with this, the point being it is a 'mobile phone' it can be moved around to pick up a signal. This was their reasoning! :mad:
@Pimento,
Short codes will not be included in any call plan as they are used mainly as a premium rate sending medium. As such they are used for many scams, such as unsolicited reverse bill texts, but that is a another problem.0 -
Stop using SMS's to deal with Twitter and either use HTC Peep or the official Twitter app from the Market0

Thanks Rusty. I'm brand new to all this so all this is good advice.
Now, if only I could get my BT Internet email to work...."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
