The buyer isnt happy but would rather than £50 than nothing

The seller wont even give £50 now either

If the owner pulled out, why would the buyer be happy with him giving only half back anyway?

Because I know the person and I hate people being scammed

I think they know they will have to go to police but would rather not if they can avoid it

So why are you involved? - It's not you letting them off is it ?

If your friend doesn't want to go to the police then there is little you can do - regardless of who you hate.

Just as a footnote - IF you find the person - what are you going to do ?

Yes, but what I am trying to say is - passions are running high so don't do anything silly, or put you or your friend in a compromising position.

At the moment, it sounds as if the law is on your side of the fence. Just try to keep it that way. :A

  • What a painful read.

Get as much information as you can and take your friend down to your local Police station and ask for some advice. You're right, no one is going to give you any information about them because of the Data Protection Act.

tbh the only thing they should be doing is going to the police..

the seller could be doing this constantly so needs reporting..

as far as we know also the op may be trying to trace someone for totally different reasons..

the best option has been suggested over and over yet they seem reluctant to follow it..

I can assure you my only motive is to get their money back for the person and not to knock tens bells out of the little runt

Like I said I have told them to go to the Police but they are reluctant, I told the buyer to give them a ultimatum pay up or police. They are a student and have a lot on their plate with exams so maybe they dont want to do it unless they have too

It is not me that is reluctant to do so, I am not posting this for me and passing it off as a friend

"Scamming" someone is not necessarily a criminal offence !

No, but fraud and obtaining money by deception are.
