i,m afraid the only way to get rid of these companies that phone from overseas is to be rude to them I had calls for months and was always polite asking them to stop ringing . Then on one call as soon as they said Household survey I said Not interested go away and put the phone down , he phoned straight back and said what did you say to me ?
I replied I told you to go away , now I'm telling you to f**k o** (not proud of my-self) but I have not had any nuisance calls since !!!!!

After receiveing 5 calls one Saturday morning (the first one disturbed my precious lay in), SIL was visiting, I said excuse me, picked up the phone and screamed into it - she looked a little shocked until I explained - I did feel a bit better as it had been really spoiling my day off after being at work all week.
I could NEVER take up a job cold calling repeatedly at nights & weekends, it is simply not right.

A great tip for people that keep on getting nuisance phone calls.
When they ring you and ask if your the home-owner, and the usual speil about double glazing, facia boards, carpet cleaning etc....
Just say the property is rented, this works a treat, as they are suddenly not interested at all if it's a rented property, i say it all the time, and it gets rid of them immediately.

I have said this the past 30+ times that "Householder Surveys" have rang me, unfortunately it has not worked at all :(:(:(

It's time people realiised that piece meal do it your self solutions to this problem is not the answer.

The Networks make huge amounts delivering these unwanted marketing calls to us.

Many of the companies involved in this type of nuisance marketing are members of the trade bodies that lobby and influence Government decision making.

These same trade bodies are also responsible for administering and policing the schemes like the TPS that were supposed to protect us. It hasn't worked and the reason is obvious.

The solution is for forums like Moneysavingexpert to influence Government decision making.

Next time Ofcom has an open consultation on this subject this forum should submit a official reply that represents the real life thoughts and suggestions of forum members.

Forums like this (with its popularity and size of membership) really could be a force for Regulatory influence and change.

    I completely agree with you.

The TPS register is run by the Direct Marketing Association and the DMA's members are the very kind of marketing companies who are desperate to ring you up. I think the only reason the DMA agreed to run it originally was so that the sales operations of their members would be more efficient by not wasting their time on cold call haters who would never buy from them. But they didn't ever anticipate BT Privacy and over 50% of UK lines becoming TPS registered. So I'm sure the DMA are now absolutely desperate to do anything they can sabotage the register they run.

Then any power to prosecute lies with the Information Commissioner's Office who cannot prosecute a totally overseas call centre operation but who could prosecute the UK companies who are seemingly being sold the data gathered by the ConsumerResearchCentre/LifestyleResearchCentre/British Consumer mob. The problem is the ICO is another government patsy that does not take any action against the most flagrant abusers but instead only against companies who are not friends of the right government ministers. I registered four calls to me in three years from Enterprise Cleaning Services of Wimborne despite my TPS registration as direct PECR complaints with the ICO and yet still the ICO would not prosecute a UK firm making around 50,000 calls a week to UK TPS registered homes. So little hope then that they will ever prosecute UK data harvesting outfits such as https://www.phruit.co.uk who don't do the dirtywork themselves from their cosy little executive mansions (bought on these ill gotten gains) but instead outsource to it various Indian and Phillippinno call centres.:mad::mad::mad:

If you had enough of phruit.co.uk and their unwanted Lifestyle/ConsumerResearch surveys about the Blitish Consumer run from India and the Philippinnes you could always try using their opt out form at http://www.phruit.co.uk/unsubscribe.html

    From http://www.phruit.co.uk/#cnsmrFile
Our database of consumers continues to grow at a rate of around 200,000 records per month, constantly updated and refreshed through daily surveys. !The Fresh UK Consumer File now exceeds two million unique consumers who have opted-in to receive a contact from you, our client.

Whatever the profile of your target market, we can provide you with demographic data that will maximise the success of your marketing campaign, be it direct mail or telemarketing. !When asked, our clients reported greater ROI through less resource wastage and higher sales conversion than from other data providers.

I had a call from someone called Peter at one of these marketing survey places a few weeks back.

He asked if he was speaking to the man of the house so I replied
Yes but sometimes I'm the lady of the house as I like to dress up in womens clothes , do you like to wear womens clothes Peter ?

For some reason he put the phone down on me and hasn't rung back ????
  • I know this is an old thread but I have to write this so people can see how annoying they are.
I am working 7pm to about 3:30am get home at 4am. wake up at 8am to bring my son to school, come home and bed for a couple of hours to catch up rest... Very tiring!... All I don't need is the phone to ring, but need it on just in case of emergencies, with school, wife car breaking down etc... Turning the phone off is not really an option....
I got called by a British surveying company, in which when they called I simply said to stop calling me in a firm tone, as I have got called that day already by various other companies. I hung up.
He called me back immediately, same guy, and asked me what was wrong.
I told him that this is wrong , because I'm being annoyed, and told him to stop calling anymore. I hung up.
He called me back straight away and I said to stop calling and that I am NOT interested in what he has to say or offer,PPI or whatever. He said for me to just listen because he is not from PPI, he is from British consumers. I asked is it about anything that I have going, be it gas, electricity? I thought to myself, *i am now in a conversation with someone, which I said I don't want*... I gave up on myself quit the conversation and said i dont want this and hung up.
He once again rung me straight away and I just shouted to leave me alone and this is harassment!!!!I hung up.
I just went straight out and went somewhere where I would not be annoyed.......
  • Let me start by saying that I am NOT in anyway racist as I have many other cultured friends, even married a girl from a different country. But I became to thinking that if people are getting harassed by, as it seems, only one part of the world in particular, day in day out, would this not spread rasism? I mean if you don't start out being rasist, and you are literally phoned all the time by annoying, harassing phone calls from people which know who you are, where you live etc, etc... Doesnt it give people an idea in their head somewhere that they feel threatened, and intimidated by this one race?
But you just have to remember that they have a job to do and they need to earn money for their family also.... Look at the other side of it...:A
But surely with todays technology, the government surely can step in and do away with this massive problem??

I disagree. If that were true, you could apply the same argument to fraudsters and burglars.
