Nuisance calls from "Householder Surveys"

Terms & conditions are always ridiculously long and so it should be illegal to hide inappropriate terms in there. And in any case that is no excuse to override any registration made so as not to be bothered by these type of calls.
Whilst having sympathy for those who are desperate for a job, the responsibility to agree to a morally questionable job is on the one who takes it. If you agree take a job designed to annoy folk then you have to accept the consequences when nobody likes you, and tells you so.0 -
Spike7451 - let me clarify that when people apply for a credit report we do not share their details with external organisations.
TPS is the way to go and if the calls persist you might consider changing your number. I've had similar problems as my number was clearly recycled when I moved last year. I was constantly getting marketing calls for the previous owner of the telephone number. It became clear that they were usiong a very outdated copy of the phonebook. Fortunately they do seem to be giving up now.

I am an official company representative of Experian. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"

I have previously worked for this company and I think all of you need to seriously think about this. Yeah, it's annoying for you, but it's soul-destroying working there. Everyone who worked there when I was were some of the nicest people I've worked with. Everyone's friendly and human. It's precisely this reason we might next seem less than thrilled when you get the dreaded call. You spend your entire day getting abused by people over the phone, insulting you and what have you. You tend to get a little sick of it. We got our information from when you sign up for free things, more than likely. When you tick the 'I agree to the terms and conditions' box, there's probably a condition in there that says they can sell things to third-parties, such as ourselves, so if you don't want these calls, read terms and conditions.
In future, be nice to tele-canvassers. It's a rubbish job done by nice people.
??? What?! You think I need to seriously think about this?! I've been harangued by calls from this company for about a year or more now, usually at least three times a week, in spite of me POLITELY asking them to take my number off their list. I have never ever once given any of the callers abuse or insulted them, although as previously stated we have been on the RECEIVING end of abuse from at least three different callers from the company.
All I want is for them to stop ringing me, is that too much to ask??0 -
I've had a similar experience recently, I had a survey caller and I said I did not want them to pass on my details and did not answer any more questions. I have received calls from many charities, eye surgery and financial companies saying the I requested a call. They have advised me they got my details from a company called Eden. I can only assume this was the survey caller. Is there a way to trace them? I am already listed with TPS so they dont work if they have had info passed from the survey?0

Just to add to what you have already been saying, i get the same 'householder surveys' company calling 3 or 4 times per week and have done now for a good 18 months, at first i used to answer their questions as it was 'not a sales call' but it soon became apparent that their 'not a sales call' was always followed up by a 'sales' call from a mortgage company the next day.
I too am registered with TPS which makes absolutely no difference. I have also asked on more than one occasion to get my name taken of the calling system, their response - either hang up, give me lip or tell lies.
As for the poor telemarketers that work there as far as im aware if you got to the job centre you WONT find any jobs with the job requirements 'rude and ignorant' with qualification 'liar' or above!
Maybe thats why they all end up working for the same company!

It is reassuring to know I'm not alone! I have also been plagued with calls from "householder surveys" for the past year. 3 or 4 times a week. I have also POLITELY requested that they remove my number from their calling list, each time being assured it would be removed. Not the case as the calls kept coming. Today was the last straw, when I asked to speak to a manager/supervisor, and I was told there wasn't one available and somebody would call me back. When I asked for the name of who would be calling me they hung up! I rang BT to see what else I could do as I too am registered with TPS. There is a facility where I can block the number the next time they ring. Once I have taken the call, I hang up and dial a certain number, then the next time they ring it will be blocked. Unfortunately it isn't a free service, but the way I feel at the moment it is worth £3 a month to not hear them on the end of the line. I am hoping that once they can't get through, they will then delete the number and I can cancel the service ............ but who knows with them, they don't seem the sort to give up! We'll wait and see .........0
