The expert was called in by Thames Valley police,Vehicle Safety Consultancy Ltd (VSC), which was asked by Thames Valley Police to consider the protection offered to Mrs Evans in the collision on Coldharbour Way, Aylesbury, after they noticed her injuries seemed unusually severe for the force of the impact.
All I can say is I am glad you don't drive one.0 -
OK, well that was not mentioned on your original quote.
It is concerning, and it does need to be investigated. But one man's opinion is still not conclusive evidence of a problem. Further tests are necessary. Was this a one-off defect? And most importantly, which other cars suffer from this fault, if indeed it is endemic.
One juicy story does not an issue make.0 -
One of the more descriptive articles I found on it.

How much weight can be put on the vauxhalls driver that she couldn't see a driver in the other car? Given that Gloyns says the injuries were compatible with a driver in the normal position.
We will never know what really happened.0 -

nope but what we do know is that ncap are going to change the dummy weight from a year or so time and make sure more than the average is used for testing. it takes years to create the dummys so they cant change it overnight but the manufactures do have access to all different sizes but dont use them, only sticking with the average, which doesnt help those below or over it0 -
these cars are built down to a price, and they suffer for it.
i would be looking out for a 1 owner fsh focus with 40,000 miles for under for 3.5k
far more user friendly.0 -
Oh dear.
My boss's boss just had one of these as a courtesy car while his company car was in for work. He is of, lets say, a rather large stature and much mirth was had watching him get in and out of it.
Handy story to keep as a reference though, seems like a good excuse for him to demand a more appropriate courtesy car next time.0 -

Prime mover for my choice of either of these 3 vehicles is super low road tax & 60+ to the gallon .
I suspect I wouldn't achieve either of these with a Ford Focus.0 -

No, but you'll have a pleasant drive, enough power to get up a hill, a clutch that does more than 15k before it needs changing and a hatch/boot that can handle a fridge freezer not just a box of tissues and a biro.0 -
Some posters here should get themselves an ex WD Saracen or similar armoured vehicle.
Just how many accidents do these people have?
This car whichever badge it happens to carry is a thoroughly competent little motor, it drives very well, it sips fuel, it costs next to nothing in VED, cheap to insure, takes sensible tyres at £40 a corner for quality rubber, it has good all round visibilty and the engine will pull like a good un from stall revs..what more do you want for a town/local car.
Given it's Toyota running gear it's proving reliable.
I wonder about these clutch issues, despairing at just how incompetent many modern drivers are i'm only surprised that clutches last as long as they do.
If the clutch does fail it's not exactly beyond the capabilities of the most bone idle to take the gearbox off and put a new clutch in surely.
If your too big to fit in a supermini, don't buy one, not exactly rocket science is it.0 -

We also have a Vauxhall Zafira - so I think we've got all the above criteria covered. The small city car is for a solo commute of 10 miles everyday .0
