3 Mobile Rant

Both my OH and I have had a contracts with three mobile since 2005. To start with they were OK but in the last 12 months we have had terrible signal problems. Everytime we try to get it sorted we are told that there can't be anything wrong because we are in a high signal area! then they try to sneak us on to longer contracts by suggesting that we change phones to ones with better reception (fortunately I'm already using one of those phones so we haven't fallen into the trap and been caught on a new 24 month deal.

I have just spent an hour on the phone trying to cancel. Plus 10 minutes on hold before I even got through.

The conversation went something like this.

"I would like to cancel my contract"
"What can I do to make our service better for you?"
"Nothing I would like to cancel my contract please"
"(something I couldn't quite hear)"
"I'm sorry I can't hear you the signal is bad. I would like to cancel my contract"
" (mumble mumble) I can offer you (mummble, mumble, something about credit or cheaper deal)."
"I am not interested in a deal I would like to cancel my contract"
"(something I couldn't quite hear)"
"I would like to cancel my contract"
"(something I couldn't quite hear)"
"I would like to cancel my contract"
"(something I couldn't quite hear)"
"I would like to cancel my contract"
"I can see from our records that you have strong signal in your area"
"No I don't, could I PLEASE cancel my contract"
"but I can offer you a cheaper deal"

. . . . for an hour!!!!!!!

Have you tried going in to a 3 store to sort it out? May be a better option face to face. Good Luck.
  • I put up with similar nonsense when I cancelled my 3 contract. It was really really cringeworthy. This poor girl on the end of the phone practically begging me to stay with 3 "pleeeease, pleeeease".

It was only my determination to leave the void of customer service that is 3 that kept me going through that excrutiating conversation.

I remember when I cancelled mine, took about an hour like the OP but the one line that stuck in my mind was
"but madam, what would you do if you were out and had an emergency and needed to make a phone call?"

Same as we done before mobiles were invented - used a phone box

Time and time again . . . that's how I knew my handset was one of the best for getting reception. The poor staff in the stores have even less power to sort things out than their call centre colleagues.
  • There have been several posts regarding cancelling contracts from H3G regarding lack of coverage and quite a few have been successful ! Its all down to them removing the Orange 2G backup and only using their 3G or T Mobiles 3G as they have a RAN share. Would suggest an email to their exec office may buck their ideas up.

Yes a lot! Although sometimes the line would just die with out any indication when I was on the phone and it would take a while before I even noticed it had cut out.

As we were both on 3 it was an absolute nightmare and pot luck on whether we'd get through to each other. I tried going through their complaints procedure but I never seemed to get anywhere. As soon as I got to the end of my contract I just took the oportunity to escape. It really does feel like escaping!

My number get transferred across to giffgaff tomorrow. I have no idea if they're any good but their cheap and I don't have to tie myself in to long contract with them. I'm hoping that there will be an improvement since they work through 02 masts. *fingers crossed*

    ABOUT THREE Network...long story..!!

Following a TWO hour+ conversation (more like being bounced off from one dept to another today while im using my landline to dial an 0844 no.)my three contract HAS BEEN cancelled!!

I took on a 24 months contract with three last week-15th Feb 2011 and my Iphone4 was delivered on thursday,17th Feb2011.Prior to that,i was told that coverage was perfect at my place (I'd checked postcode on their website for coverage and it came up EXCELLENT!) and ALSO,as long as you dont use the phone, you can use the simcard on another phone to test your coverage. When my phone arrived,i took the simcard out and tried it on my blackberry 9700,coverage-ZERO.

I took my BB around the house and in some corners, there was a bit of coverage.Yesterday,a friend of mine was involved in an accident and myself being the next point of contact, the hospital was apparently trying to get a hold of me and i had my phone sitting on the table infront of me for an hour. When i left my house, thats when i realised that i'd missed 18 calls from the hospital...I couldnt hack it anymore.
I phoned Three to cancel my contract due to very rubbish signal and also because i have not used their phone and im also within the 14 days colling off period..
WARNING-With three, this 14 days cooling off period is non-existent to them!...Do not go anywhere near them. They're very nice, polite to you on the phone prior to you getting a contract but the minnute you do,things get ugly!!

When i finally got through,i was told that because i had used the simcard, they wont cancel my contract!..Im like, are you having a laugh??
    1. The signal is crap!-I took my simcard from one phone to another and the signal was the same...but with my currently ending vodafone simcard, the signal-PERFECT ANYWHERE..
    2. I have not used the Iphone4 that was sent to me because,i was told originally that as long as i dont use the phone,my contract would be cancelled.
3.Im still within the 14 days cooling off period.
4.In any business, there is buying and selling...therefore, im not receiving their service and thats why im cancelling my contract.I cant pay for the service that is non-existent.

I was bounced off from one dept to another AND their numbers being 0844 and i was using my landline as using their network to phone was useless..

Two hours of going back and forth with people who dont speak english as their first language,i got fed up and i was going on about three being in breach of their contract and under the Supply of Goods And Service Act 1982,they were in breach of the law.

To cut the story short, they FINALLY agreed to cancel it and i'll get my £69 back in my account as soon as they get their iphone.
I never thought i'd say this but, they've just instilled my faith in Vodafone again. When i think about it,i have no real reason as to why i was leaving Vodafone in the first place.Im such a !!!!!

    Three.co.uk-You'll never see me again!!..
In short-they're a bunch of greedy sods!!! ...
