When do you leave feedback

hmmm, i've been buying and selling for a few years but i don't really agree with sellers waiting for the buyer to leave feedback, in fact i've had a seller email me yesterday asking for feedback on their item when they haven't left me any feedback, i'm ignoring it.
if i pay by paypal the same day the auction ends then the seller has no reason not to leave me perfect feedback - they know i've paid. if there is a dispute later on and i end up leaving them neg feedback they can make their response in their own feedback, it still doesn't change the fact that i paid immediately, i still should get my feedback as a buyer before they expect me to leave them feedback as seller. when i sell i always leave feedback when i get paid.52% tight0 -

But the deal isn't done until the buyer has the goods. I post everything out recorded or special delivery, and until the buyer has signed for the goods, as far as I am concerned, they have not completed their part of the deal.
If you have already left feedback, how do you deal with someone who fails to go the the post office to get their goods when they have been carded, and it ends up with the goods being sent back to you. Has the buyer done everything just by paying?jellyhead wrote:when i sell i always leave feedback when i get paid.
Your choice to do whatever you want. You shouldn't expect others to act in the same way though.0 -
no, fair enough :-)
as long as others don't email me asking for my feedback - if i'm the buyer then i expect them to leave me feedback first, to email me telling me they want feedback is the hright of rudeness.52% tight0 -
I haven't sold very many things so receiving feedback has been my only way of knowing that things have gone okay - on my very first sale I didn't get any feedback and it really upset me as I couldnt even be sure that the buyer was happy with the product & receieved it in one piece etc...
As I seel more things I am getting less concerned about people who don't leave feedback but have a message on my paypal packing slip that says "Thanks for buying this ***** & paying with PayPal - It was a pleasure doing business with you. Please leave feedback if you are happy with your purchase."
If I dont hear anything then I sometimes email people to tell them that I hope they received the product and are happy with their purchase and I would be grateful if this is the case that they could leave me feedback accordingly (or something like that!) I will normally have left them feedback once payment has cleared.
Everyone is different but this way seems to work for me at the mo ;o)Official DFW Nerd 210

Why is it rude to ask someone if they were happy with their purchase? Is that not the same as a waiter asking you if you enjoyed your meal?? I often email people just to find out that everything is okay as it worries me if people don't leave feedback that there is something that I could do to improve the service I offer i.e. packaging, speed of delivery, accuracy of ad etc..
IMO I think its pretty rude and pointless not to reply to someone who has bothered to contact you to try and wrap up the sale - after all, the moral ethos of ebaying is that you leave each other feedback, not to do so would seem rude to me???Official DFW Nerd 210

I've sold loads on ebay and bought quite a bit but hardly get any feedback. I have left feedback on all of my purchases and sales. I think I'm gonna wait to receive feedback first in future.0

I am a buyer and a seller on e-Bay and I agree with Altarf on this.
It is silly for the seller to post feedback first. When selling items I want to know that the buyer has received the item in good condition and that they are satisfied with it, his/her feedback is proof of that. Once I get their feedback I immediately return the favour.
When I am the buyer I send feedback as soon as the goods have been received and checked.
On the one occasion that I did not get feedback from a buyer, this was an item that was picked up from my place, I gave them a reminder a few days later and they did get round to it. I think it was their first deal on e-Bay so I took it that they didn't know the ropes. BTW on this occasion I left feedback just as soon as they left my house because I knew they had received the goods and were satisfied.

i woulds always reply to a seller asking me if i was happy with the goods, etc. but there are polite ways to do that - sending an email entitled 'feedback reminder' isn't polite.52% tight0

I tend to leave feedback when the buyer had paid.
I put a note in with my contact details thanking them for their purchase. I remind them I have already left positive feedback for them and if they are happy I would appreciate some good feedback from them. I also ask if they are not happy, to contact me before they leave a neg, so I can at least attempt to put things right. So far everyone has left me a positive comment.
If they don't leave any feedback, I chase it up a week later with a friendly e-mail saying I was just checking they got their goods and they were happy with them. As long as they are happy, I don't push further for feedback.
I only have one neg. This was from a seller who said she would only post something by special delivery. I paid extra for that service then the goods arrived in normal second class post. I complained to her and said she was be3ing unfair making me pay for a service I didn't get. She sent me an abusive e-mail back, so I left a neg, then she left a neg for me. I thought that was unfair as I'd paid by Paypal minutes after the auction ended. As usual, ebay wouldn't help :rolleyes:Here I go again on my own....0
