When do you leave feedback

I am a seller with 190 positive feedback. I always left feedback when a buyer had paid and when a seller delivered but I have since changed when I leave feedback as I am sick of people not leaving feedback.

Now as a seller, I put a note with their product and state that I will leave feedback once they have left feedback for me as that informs me that they have received their product satisfactorily and it then concludes our business. Most people I buy from only leave me feedback once I have left it for them, so I take this to be the norm.

I have just had an email from a buyer who said they will only leave feedback for me once I have left if for them. I am in two minds wether or not to do this as he demanded that he wanted my item delivering in a box not a jiffy bag to protect the item. I have already sold 8 of these items and they have been wrapped in bubblewrap and then in brown paper and everybody has said that they have been securely packaged, but I have got a feeling that this person is going to leave me negative.

Just wondering when you all leave feedback?

Thanks

Alison

I consider a few factors before I decide when to leave feedback. If I get an instant payment for an item via paypal and that buyer has good feedback themselves and also leaves good feedback I would tend to leave positive feedback as soon as I wrap the item.

If however the buyer has any neutrals or negs, or leaves neutrals or negs, then I hold off leaving feedback until I know they have the item.

If the buyer looks like a problem in any way shape or form I leave feedback only when they leave it for me. If a buyer never leaves feedback (and I've come across a few of those!) then I don't bother leaving feedback at all on the basis that if they don't value the feedback system they won't miss my feedback.

In your case where a buyer has already raised an issue about packing I would probably hold off leaving feedback until they leave it. If they don't leave feedback then I wouldn't bother either.

I never ask for feedback though.

I have had atleast 20 people not leave feedback but i tend to leave feedback for them anyway, usually i give them a week or two then i contact them and ask if they can leave feedback, sometimes its because they don't know how to as i had one buyer who i contacted and asked for some feedback so he emailed me back with "Great Ebayer, Fast Delivery" :D

If i find there were any minor hicups with the transaction then i may hang fire on the feedback.

  • I find it VERY annoying when people don't leave me feedback! I find it's always the sellers with 100's or 1000's of feedback comments who are a bit lax in leaving it too! I always make sure I leave feedback for people thoigh - it's just good manners IMO!

I've been buying and selling for over a year now and aren't as bothered if people don't leave me feedback as I was when I first started. The novelty of it wears off after a while and you just want your stuff to arrive in one piece!

I used to leave it as soon as the buyer paid, now I only leave it after the buyer has left it for me, as I had about 5 buyers who couldn't be bothered leaving any in return. Also, there is always the chance that the buyer will be petty over something stupid, (you'd be amazed) and neg you.

I have one buyer at the moment who paid me by cheque a few weeks back, I reluctantly agreed to accept a cheque even though my auctions are Paypal only. They sent the cheque on a Friday morning saying that they wanted the item delivering next day, in other words they didn't want me to wait for the cheque to clear even though I had accepted it on the premise that I would not post the item until it cleared!!

I posted the item out against my better judgement, but I doubt the item got there on time. I have not had feedback yet. I am sure that if I leave them feedback they are likely to neg or neutral me in return. So I have done nothing feedback wise.

It's a bit of a standoff but the buyer will always be afraid that I will retaliate for a stupid neg. It's ridiculous really as I am quite happy to leave them a positive as the cheque cleared!!!
  • Don't forget us noobs :D

I'd left 5 great feedbacks for my seller, and they didn't appear

Then I read a bit more and realised you have to be a member for at least 5 days lol

As a buyer when I have confirmed that the goods that have arrived are undamaged and in working order.

As a seller when the buyer leaves feedback to confirm that everything was OK. If they don't leave feedback, I don't.

Yeah I'm both a seller and a buyer. I always wait until the other person has left feedback when I am selling however when I buy something I leave feedback asap!
  • Ahhh feedback. Where would we all be without it?

Lets face it, i think feedback is one of the most important factors when it comes to eBaying. Its the one thing we all look to for answers when things go wrong and what we all look to for confidence in buying and selling. Its a shame a lot more ppl don't realise that.

Yeah I totally agree BargainBabe! :)

Without it, eBay wouldn't be anywhere near as good!
