MSE News: Egypt crisis: your travel rights

Hi, my husband and I are supposed to be going to Luxor on March 21st with Voyages Jules Verne. We're booked on a package tour back in September 2010 with excursions into the west bank, abydos and dendera. Given the unrest that has been happening, we're extremely nervous about going out there and would prefer to go somewhere else. The only problem is that VJV want to charge us £100 for changing our holiday!

I think it's disgusting that VJV seem to only be interested in their profilt margin with no regard for their travellers' peace of mind. Cancelling the holiday altogether is not an option as they get to keep all our money.

Does anyone have any advice as to what we can do?

I know and that is what concerns us. I can't believe the FCO is telling everyone it is safe to travel to Egypt when the country is under mililtary rule! They must be getting pressure from the tour operators who don't want to lose any more money than they already have

I've seen the latest developments on the TV today and wondered if anyone any advice on how we stand re. flights booked to Bahrain in early March. The flights are booked with Qatar airways through the travelocity website and paid for by credit card. Latest For. Office advice doesn't say not to travel but advises people to minimise travel around the country (which then defeats the object of going if we can't go out & about!) We have no other costs as yet as staying with family over there, but flights alone were £1200.
Obviously we're hoping it calms down and we can still go but wondered for advice what our alternatives are?
