Not in the least. These types of vehicles are merely exempt from paying the tax. The law's quite clear, all motor vehicles pay a tax. Some are exempt from that law. Cyclists, etc. are not 'exempt'; there is no such law governing them."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I have an accident camera fitted in my company car. On my journey into London I could easily press the red "save" button about 30 times every time a cyclist transgresses the law, and an additional dozen times every time a cyclist endangers themselves. I reckon that on a typical journey maybe one or two cyclists will be endangered by other road users.
But will we see the truth from cyclists? Will they claim that they were cut up when in fact they were the ones manoeuvring themselves into a dangerous situation? The man without a signature.0 -
Hopefully they will capture when they decide to do something idiotic, like draw up next to a car turning left at traffic lights when they’re going straight over…. Or like the one I encountered the other day. I pulled out onto the road; he had been cycling on a pavement behind a parked van. Apparently I should have seen through this van – or how about look before you hop onto the road next time, moron! Or pay for the damage you do to my car!0

You can get a camera for your car

and yet I can list many occasions where i could have been killed by a car/lorry/van driver on the road
does that make it alright because some cyclists have poor road sense?0 -
No, but if a cyclist endangers themselves it's not the car drivers fault!0

And you can be quite sure that if it is the cyclists fault they will not be able to use the camera as evidence that it wasn't.
So no worries there.
In fact, if my experience when cycling is anything to go by, the vast majority of car drivers have nothing to worry about as they behave with great consideration to cyclists.
It's just the small minority who are at risk of being brought to book by the use of these cameras. And it's very likely that this minority are also endangering all road users, including other drivers. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Why is everone arguing? There are good driver and bad drivers, just like there are good cyclists and bad cyclists.
The on-bike footage shown on BBC breakfast was very scary indeed.0 -

how is that relevant?
cyclists are 'arming' themselves with helmet cams to show what they have to put up with
If they put themselves in harms way it doesnt suddenly photoshop the video0 -

I was answering 'does that make it alright because some cyclists have poor road sense?'.
No one said the video would suddenly be photoshopped. I said that if they endanger themselves, well it's their own stupid fault if they get hurt.0
