Not a long shot when someone was promoting the 'always let the bully win' option.
Kudos to you for spotting it, though.
I'm not going to start playing your silly little games because that is not even remotely like what happened in the clip.0 -

It is a general question to a so called responsible cyclist, or anyone out there. I have made my position clear at what I would do as a car driver if met by a similar scenario, which is if met with an oncoming accident, that I would slow down and do anything that was humanly possible to avoid said accident.
All you seem to be saying is that the van driver got all he deserved and the cyclist didn't do anything wrong ( which I have said I agree with)
I've already said that I'm not going to play that game.
There are a million situations where a cyclist should slow down/stop/give way.
There's no point enumerating them - we all know they exist.
As we know that there are lycra louts who flout the rules of the road and annoy everyone, pedestrians, other cyclists and motorists alike (although, not, unfortunately, the police). There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Had some a***hole cyclist slap the back of my car and shout the other day whilst waiting in traffic on narrow lanes at a roundabout.
Why did he do that?
I don't think I'm alone as a cyclist who prefers not to pick fights with people in metal boxes. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I assume he was frustrated because there wasn't enough space for him to squeeze through on the inside so he could go through the red light. However he miraculously found space as I got out to check the car0 -

But as I have already stated, I don't find the cyclists who are ' lycra clad' an issue.( They are quite nice to look at actually, most of them !) It is the ones who dont dress correctly, don't have the correct equipment which is mandatory for a bicycle as per highway code, who cause the most problems, who do not know the rights of the road and think they are invincible.
I feel that you won't answer that little questionaire, as there are similarities in the scenario, which ring true with the article. The rider shouted at the van driver as he was going round a bend, did have adequate time to brake and stop a collision, but decided not to do so and confront the van driver.
Yes, the van driver was a neanderthal, who was on the agressive side from the off, but as already stated by another poster he was done firstly for a public order offence ( more than likely aggressive behaviour) and then driving without due care and attention. The former stays on his record, the latter wiped off after a few years. If he hadn't been agressive, it may have just turned out to be a fixed penalty notice. This does not excuse his behaviour and poor driving habits though as already stated.
Another point of the cycle cameras is that the view which is shown by the camera, is only as the cyclist sees it. Therefore it will not show up his position on the road, other very close obstacles, pedestrians etc. In effect they will only give a very blinkered view of the actual incident, therefore should not be passed as legitimate evidence in court.0 -
Come on rusty, they will of use in one court, the coroner's court.0
