Thanks Custardy,I didnt realise that,I thought this line ""The shipping prices come directly from Royal Mail, and are generated dynamically based on your post code"" implied that it may be more expensive from England to Scotland,£5 delivery charge is very reasonable for a box delivery, thanks.
Ps,sorry forgot to ask,did you order the introductory box?-or were you just testing an order to check delivery?
If youve ordered do you mind letting us know what you think of it,cheers.

Thanks Custardy,im off the same thinking, less meat but better quality, dunno if you noticed the link for Damned Delicious,a farm in Biggar with a butchers shop in Lanark, not organic but free range and all Aberdeen Angus, their prices also appear to be quite good too.
And a bit closer to home(im now considering the food miles issue..then again,it may be worth it cos the Sandringham stuff is organic),hopefully i will have come to a decision by the time my new freezer arrives. :)

  • Hi cooking-mama..just reporting in. :)

I bought 3 joints, pork, beef & lamb, plus a few other bits & pieces, chops, burgers etc.
We had the pork on Sunday & it was indeed delicious.
If everything else is as good I will very likely go back next month.:)

I have tried a few online outlets over the last few months. Meatpacks...joints lovely, sausages also good. I tried clarebarry too. I preferred clarebarry's bacon, but meatpacks sausages & joints. Clarebarry also does a good deal on mince ..2 packs of steak mince for £4.99. Also double packs of pork & lamb mince, pork £3.99 & lamb £5.99 I think. :)

Oh & yes, postage will show up (for all outlets I've mentionned) before you have to finally checkout.
Good luck in your search. :)

Brilliant thanks for the update sparky1664,(greatbirchamfoods didnt answer my Email)
word of mouth is always the best recommendation anyway, ive noticed clarebarry is also often mentioned on here.i used the mince from damn delicious during the week, and it was very very lean,in fact when i was browning it i thought i was gonna have to add oil to the pan because there was no fat at all released on browning..it was lovely tho(and hopefully healthier due to being lower fat)I mentioned this to someone at work who has also bought stuff from their butchers shop(apparantly the fillet steak is exceptional)but she wasnt so keen on their sausages, too lean and meaty apparantly, suppose some things do need a bit of fat to add flavour.

I will do Lily-lu,ive already tried there diced steak in a curry, that was lovely, and my family loved the brisket joint(i wasnt so keen),but it certainly had a lot of flavour,I bought these from their butcher shop in Lanark,i have mince in the freezer still to try.
Theres another company mentioned in this topic,https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3077646 called Great Bircham foods, from Sandringham estate, prices look very good for organic meat, only problem is i havent been able to find any info regarding delivery costs or how the meat is transported.
    http://www.greatbirchamfoods.co.uk/
Thanks very much for that info, Cooking-mama. I'll have a look at those links and hopefully I'll get to try one of them out soon.
Not much freezer space at the moment, due to all the cat food that's in the small chest freezer, but hopefully in about a month's time, they'll have ploughed through enough of it to make some room for ours:D

I can highly recommend Sunnyside Farm - they are at Edinburgh Farmers Market a couple of times a month and do other markets too, but you can also order online: http://www.sunnysidefarm.biz/ Some of the best beef (Dexter) and lamb (Shetland) I have ever had. Good sausages and bacon too. Cows seem happy enough :)http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=100000808493526&aid=12367

This place is in the same area and also looks good, although I have not tried them:

I get my meat at a local farmers market although I have been to his farm and see the Aberdeen Angus cattle grazing in the fields he has his own beef and lamb buys in pork locally and on the slow cooking cuts hes cheaper than Asda. An 800 gram brisket joint work be £3.99 and he pickled a whole one for £10 made 3 joints easily and great sandwiches for later with rye and spelt bread from Morrisons. I checked and the brisket is £4.40 for 800g . this is the new 10lb beef pack £25.
    Beef Pack 4 only £25 (worth £30.10)

    2 x 8oz Rump Steaks 1 x 2lb Topside/Silverside

    1 x 2lb Toprib 2 x 1lb Stewing Steak

    3 x 1lb Mince

    All weights are approximate
It's only rock and roll but I like it.

Brilliant thanks competitionscafe taste of Galloway sounds like very similar farming to Dam Delicious, with cows outdoors all year round...""This is from The taste of Galloway site.
    Pure Galloway Beef
Our Galloway cattle are mostly Grass fed all year round, with a little concentrate in the winter when the grass is scarce. Our cows live outside all year round as this was what they were bred for. Galloway cattle have a unique double coat of hair which keeps them warm & dry and makes them look very hairy. Galloway and Angus cattle shared the polled herd book until 1867! ""

Took me a wee while to find the prices online, but they are averaging £1 per Kg less than most items on Damn Delicious,(D.D)but the saving is offset by the delivery charge and the discount by buying a meat box from D.D.( Altho its only free delivery from DD. when spending over £65,the Galloway site only needs a spend of £40 online for a £5 delivery charge)
Id had a look previously at the Sunnyside farm site, but they are very vague as to what is in their meat boxes.
    ""Dexter Beef Pack: Half Pack
A delicious selection of the best beef you will ever eat. Small but perfectly formed, these little wonders are hung for 28 days before being cut in our own butchery.

Dont be frightened by the lack of weights. this pack will include 2 sirloin steaks, a roasting joint and then a selection to make the value to £30. Everything is labelled so you know exactly what you are paying for. If you want a particular piece of beef then let me know and i can include it in the pack.""...for £30(+£7 delivery charge )Id rather know what i was getting in advance, the £60 pack(free delivery),states a selection of roasts, casserols and stews)

Farmersmarketeer, those prices are realy good, couldnt get anything like that around here,Damn Delicious brisket is £9odds per Kg(Tho our local butchers is £13.99Kg!!!),for brisket!!

New freezer has arrived...But payday hasnt;)...5 week month for me,so i still have until next Wedensday to make my final decison..bought a topside joint from Asda last weekend...totaly tasteless, false economy realy, ive a £5 voucher off a £30 food spend at Co-Op,apparantly they have a wide range of "freedom food",I may try that with the voucher to tide me over until i can afford my freezer pack...Dunno whats happened to the Sandringham estate site http://www.greatbirchamfoods.co.uk/...it hasnt been available for a while now.
