No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge

  • Hello ladeez! :)

This month I am not promising to buy nothing, but I will not buy any dupes of products I already have, and I will try and resist impulse beauty shopping. I also want to reduce my overall beauty spend.

Looking through my statements I realised that I spend a big chunk of my disposable income on toiletries and cosmetics. (The amount is more than I spend on clothes, but less than I spend on my social life.) I feel a lot of pressure to look nice, smell nice, be in fashion, etc. I feel that if my hair and make up are always done to the max I can "get away with" buying fewer new outfits. As it is I have a lot of clothes. I don't feel as if I have too many, but they take up a lot of space.

(I have clothes for the gym, clothes for work, clothes for casual, and clothes for going out, and there is hardly any overlap.)

For my run and going to the gym I have a scrubbed face and hair pulled back, but otherwise I have my hair and make up done at all times.

I buy from cosmetics counters rather than shops with just displays because I always ask advice and if the thing they sold me doesn't what they said it would, I take it back. I also buy from QVC for the same reason.

I can promise not to buy any toiletries, so long as we don't include make up. I definitely have enough skincare and smellies to last me the month.
  • UU this morning Sanex hypoallergenic shower gel WIBA Yes I bought this when I came out in a rash from an allergy and its worked a treat! No smell or anything exciting but it didnt aggravate my skin so it did the job!

My desk stash is small P&P handcream and L'oreal lip pastel repair balm and a battered old tube of eumovate for the odd dermatitis breakout!

Handbag stash BS cherry lip butter, S&G motherpucker lip gloss and a nail file. Occasionally I have a blemish stick for the odd breakout.

    Not very exciting really! lol

    Hiya

I've finally just caught up after being MIA all weekend :p

Some of you use a lot of products in one pamper session, i'm going wrong somwhere... ;)

    UU
Sanctary Spa Luxury Bath Float (mini) WBA but not just yet, i've more in my stash :D
Carex moisturing hand wash - this smell is beginning to remind me of 'home' dont need to buy again as mum buys me it in bulk each christmas
Nivea Sport Shower Gel - OH's but he's declaring it and paid his quid for using it up :p I asked if he would buy it again and his words were 'suppose it depends if you find it cheap enough for me to have again' :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Throw
Some Wella hairspray - WNBA never seemed to come out right, ended up with it all over my hand and arm (which is why i've thrown it!)

    ebay
    S & G Girligo - Just dont fancy this
    S & G Shampoo - no conditioner & I like them to match
Boots 17 Starry Eye liquid eyeliner - BOGOF offer and I dont wear it

No in's to declare as had a quiet weekend, did fancy the MB offer, but the nearest MB is in Leeds and i'm too 'fat' to be bothered to go.... :A

I dont carry toiletries in my bag either, I tend to do my face once a day and never re do it (unless i'm going out, in which case its a full get ready again scenario) and on my desk at work I have a Botonics hand cream and the blue vaseline for lips..... Prolly not still on my desk now though!!!
Challenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015
Starting the savings for retirement :rotfl:

Wow Mooloo, what a great stash to come home with

I've sold a couple of items on eBay this afternoon,

Gok Gold Body Oil (would never have used this, I don't like to sparkle)
Baylis & Harding 100ml bottles of Shampoo & Conditioner (didn't think this would be any good on my dyed red hair, should have used it when I got it re:PRCP:()

I sold some unwanted clothes and shoes too, I made £81 in all :j:j:j, I may leave it in my Paypal account and use on Boots.com when I need something (where else can I use Paypal?). I quite fancy some Clinique All About Eyes concealer, but at £16 its a bit steep for me normally so I might just treat myself. I am nearly out of the Collection 2000 "touche eclat" concealer.

More and more places are accepting paypal, I use it a lot.

I still have not sold on ebay. Nervous to start, I really must get over that hurdle. I have lots of clothes I no longer wear, due to change in life style. I really cannot see my Liz Claybourne suits on the school run, or digging up the garden! :rotfl:

  • Evening all,

I love the idea of the work stash. I only keep carmex, lipstick and a horrible vaseline hand cream at work (aiming to use it up!). However, I do have 5 pairs of boots/shoes under my desk, aside from the ones I wear into the office! I think my colleagues are baffled! :)

Still no uus for me - my 15ml decleor cream is finally nearing the end, but I can imagine it will last another week. I've been using it every day for the last 3 months! One in the other day though - Boots tea tree and witch hazel night treatment, to sort out my spotty chin. :( I only put it on last night and already I can see some improvement - hooray!
  • I don't have work stash but I do carry around a small pot of Handy Guragu (hand cream) and a vaseline tub. Due to my manual job I use so much hand cream in work I may as well carry around the full tub. I also have a foots works spray in my locker for my shoes buut I don't count it in my stash as I buy it from someone in work and never bring it home.

One uu today, colgate toothpaste, wiba, prob not. It was a sample of there new sensitive whitening one I recieved it in the post some time ago but I didn't really like it. I ended up rotating it with another, but at least its gone. I prefer sensodyne (sp?).

Oh and I may have ordered from Avon after all :o

I do that too. The money I get from eBay sales is money I am allowed to be frivolous with. :)
