No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge

Morning all! Finished a GWP P&P body serum - quite nice, but I doubt I'd buy it. And an Original Source Winter shower gel - lovely. Now back to the booooring Tesco 25p shower gels... not very PRC but I only have one of the lemony ones left, and I'll be happy to be rid of it, so that spurs me on! Did a PYNF last night - a Barry M green, one of my favourites.0

Hi Everyone
I have two more UU to report -a Sanctuary Body Lotion (75ml) - probably WNBA as wasn't overkeen on the smell although it moisturise my skin and a Champney's Bath Milk (250ml) which I've been using in the shower with a shower puff scrunchy thing - probably wouldn't buy it again -I'm not a "bath" person - just a daft one!!! and I'm slowly working my way through my stash. I didn't buy any toiletries in January and used up 16 items, I'm not putting a pound in the pot for each item I use but I am hoping to get to a point where I have one item that I am using and in the stash. But I've got a long way to go before I'll be in that position.
Hoping that everyone has a good weekend and that Monday morning doesn't hit us with a brick!Always be yourself, unless you can be a Unicorn - then always be a Unicorn !

I just want to say how much I love this thread! It has really encouraged me to use my nicer products first rather than keeping them for "a special occasion" which never seems to happen! Pink Rose Candle Philosophy is great.
As an example I used up some face mask this morning which I have had for ages. Was going to be keeping it for when I needed a treat - but I decided that day was today! It has really done wonders for my skin - it's so soft
Happy Saturday everyone!0 -

hope you are having a lovely weekend,
to those who are feeling unwell I hope you feel better soon
I have a uu and an out to declare:
uu quickies nail polish remover pads - these are brilliant at removing every last trace of polish and really convenient, have another box in the stash so don't need to buy again just yet,
gifted to mum - clinique moisture surge moisturiser, she happened to mention that she'd like to try it so I passed it on,
happy pampering, xx
you are a good daughter I love mositure surge, very useful after a holiday in the sun or cold winter.
has anyone noticed how expensive nail polish remover has become?
managed to sleep last night and no longer living in the bathroom but feel like a zombie, very weak and scared of eating anything but toast:(DH now seems to be suffering too but thankfully a milder dose. Will keep taking the tablets and wait for results on monday and see what public health have to say.
Am guessing the store would try and blame me for not cooking it properly but I am almost paranoid with chicken and gave it a lot longer than the 1 hr 20 they said and at a higher temp.I pricked it several times with a knife right into the leg and breast and Dh carved and have trained him to point out if a chicken is not cooked through so hard to see how it could still be infectious as cooking is supposed to kill the bugs!
I did read that animals can carry the bug but we have had the cats for 11 years and no problems and another cat before that.0 -
Hi
A couple of UU:
Celebre Body Silk- WIBA- Probably now- left the skin smooth, but felt chalky. It's a real pity because it smells nice (when opened anyways- by the time I had got round to using it, it smelt of alcohol!)
2 Small Samples of Body Lotion- WIstealA? Yes, they smelt really nice. They were designed to be unisex, but I thought they were quite girly. I did find that I used an entire bottle in one application though- and i'm only a pixie! It just didn't seem to spread very well.
Superdrug Deep conditioning stuff from hair dye set from many moons ago- not really a UU, but squirted into my tub of planet spa deep conditioner. I just can't get excited about conditioner- I am one of these people who *apparently* has naturally good hair. I very rarely condition it (unless i've been swimming) and it's so thick it has a naturally nice volume, so product is pretty redundant. SO WHY DO I KEEP BUYING THEM?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
One In that isn't really an In. Me and the OH have decided that we're not doing anything for Valentines. We'll probably cook a nice meal and cuddle up under the duvet with some choccies and wine. So I felt compelled to buy this:
http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/_en/_gb/catalog/list.aspx?CategoryCode=C_Specials_LoveInFor10&ParentCatCode=C_Specials&cm_re=TopPanel-_-MainPromo-_-valentines&
I'm not going to count it as an In because i've never used these before, so it's not a stashable item and the massager and oil will be good for both of our combined sports injuries. In fact, it's a medicinal item! Lol!
I have a bit of a rotten cold and I've broken my foot so no shopping for me today, but when I feel down I always head to The Body Shop.
I hope everyone who's feeling ill gets better soon! A nice long soak in the bath with lots of bubble bath will soothe aching muscles from vomiting and will freshen you up which will hopefully make you feel human again!
Fingers crossed for Roshy!0 -
HI girls,
Just popping in to let you know how yesterday went. I turned up and all of the intake had degrees in relevant subjects to the job we're applying for so I had to justify my degree and fit it to the job IYKWIM - the cores are very similar but seeing as one is in construction and cost management and the other is in retail merchandising and buying (trust me when I say it IS the same job in application!)
So, having woken up with a rotten cold, a fluffy head and got 2 hours sleep because of the gales outside my window (downside f having fields around your house!) I fluffed my first assessment by misreading the quantities required for the question. I guess for positive thinking all of my answer referenced my misread figure and I spotted it straight away in the verbal reasoning part in the afternoon...so you can see why i don't hold out much hope for it! I would say that one of the interviews couldn't have gone any better, and the second one 'went', but I wish I could have let them know that I wasn't feeling myself without seeming to appear to be trying to get my favours in.
They said that they would let me know on Monday but I think I'll have to carry on looking. Thanks for the support ladies it was so much appreciated!
I have one UU to report, a dove heat protection spray WIBA yes its lovely when i remember to use it (!) but I have a john frieda one to move onto now.
I'll try and catch up with the thread this weekend but at the moment I just want to mope about under the cover with a cup of tea and the kleenex, olbus and vicksx

i'll continue to keep my fingers crossed for you Roshy, you never know what will happen. Interviews are horrible aren't they!0

Oooh, I forgot to add my UUs to my savings pot last night! Must have been the late hour! I'll add £10 for the Righteous Butter and £1 for the little Clinique body butter. Off to update my sig now.
BTW, help - I am struggling with temptation with the Molton Brown offer.
sarah*a - how do you multiquote so many posts??? I can only do up to 3 at a time. TIA.
roshy - fingers crossed that you will get it, you probably did better than you think! Be good to yourself today and just take it easy xoxoxoThats a great idea! I will round them all up and take them in during the week - I'll let you know how I get on
Actually - might just take one or two to start with - don't want to have to haul them all home with me if they won't take them off my hands
OH said something similar to me the other day - I really need to buy a coffee table but am getting frustrated by the prices for 2nd hand ones. He's had to really work hard to convince me that £20 is not expensive for a good wood coffee table. (I'm still not sure though ....;))
And he says I have a habit of picking things up in a shop, looking at the price label and announcing 'I'm not paying that for it - I'll wait 'til it's on offer' :rotfl:
I do the same!!!! :rotfl:
Might try that with Origins too, will print the page to bring with me as well!Trying_really_hard wrote: »Hello All.
I haven't caught up with the whole thread yet (its been a trying week!) Hope job interviews went well, poorly people get better and everyone else is doing fabulous.
As I managed to spend nearly £100 in January after joining this thread I would say I failed massively. However, I did glean something very useful out of that £100 (which you lot probably already knew!)
I buy "ranges" generally suckered in to the spiel that all the ingredients "work best" together. Therefore, in an example this month I bought the entire Body Shop Seaweed Range. After a massive dry skin and red itchy/sore breakout, I stopped using it and bought some Avene Thermal stuff for sensitive skin to calm my skin down. However, I didn't just buy some of the Avene range, I bought most of the sensitive/blemish prone stuff.
I then hit upon something after a guilt trip, I really like the mattifying day cream from the BS, I like the cleanser from Avene and the recovery cream and my AHA Gel from Priori. Dare I say it, I have mixed brands and my skin (fingers crossed please) has improved. I will see though.
It might sound daft, but I might have cottoned on to something here which may save me money in the long run.
Good for you, sounds like you may have found your HG items! Is this the cleanser? http://www.boots.com/en/Eau-Thermale-Avene-Extremely-Gentle-Cleanser-200ml_1576/ I adore this stuff, it is the most gentle cleanser ever. :TOne In that isn't really an In. It's so frustrating - I wake up sometimes feeling like I've run a marathonThe one thing I've found that does help is a vibration machine - if I use it within a few hours of going to bed it can calm it completely - problem is I can't use it at the moment 'cos it plays havoc with my nausea :rotfl: but once my new meds kick in I'll back on daily :T
so THATS what they call them these days?????!!!:rotfl:
Roshy - you might well find that in making a mistake and noticing it in the later interview it works in your favour - still keeping everything crossed for you.Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
I love mascara, easily my favourite cosmetic, but I was surprised how many there were - they range from Chanel to Primark, all (except for the current one) unopened :rotfl: In my defense, I did get some of them as presents :rotfl:;)
I might count my nail varnishes next :rotfl:
Sophy DON'T GO THERE WITH THE NAILVARNISHES!!! I'm not even contemplating counting mine![/QUOTE]
My thoughts too. I think I have serious NV compulsion. Everytime a new collection comes out I HAVE TO HAVE ONE. Ended up asking for the Leighton Denny TSV aired on Thursday for my birthday gift in a couple of weeks.
Someone posted on here for me about Avon mascaras as well. I was going to wait for Book 5 for the discounted Super Magnify one. My Avon lady is still selling from Book 4. Had a nosey and spotted a glitch. If you order the mascara on page 52 it's £5.25 (only available in black and has newer packaging - I wanted black though). On page 56 it is full price £8.50 in old packaging! Not sure what that's about but I've gone for the newer packaging!Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
