Bin them...seriously, life is too short to be using products that simply don't suit you - throw them out and chalk it up to experience.

You're right EH and thevicster. I think it's a thing I've been brought up with not to waste (ahem!). I will bin them (Max Factor foundation and MUA bronzers) from my work make up bag. I will have to buy a Collection 2000 mineral foundation to replace it - I prefer a dry foundation to apply at work (shh) rather than a liquid one. And like you say chalk it up to experience. :A

    Happy pampering everyone :j

    Evening ladies!!!

    2 UUs to report:

Clinique Deep Comfort body butter - small size - no idea when I got it, probably as part of a free gift. So I cracked it open and used it up this week. WIBA: Hmm, it is lovely but far too expensive, so I would if it were available on a glitch! :)

Soap & Glory Righteous Butter - WIBA - yes, and have another one in my stash. :D:D:D

rosemary54, sorry to hear you're ill, poor thing :( And hugs to anyone else who is feeling under the weather xoxo

    Sophy - 32 mascaras, bl00dy hell!!!!!!!!!!!!
*makes mental note to count own mascara stash*:o

roshy - can't wait to hear how you got on today! :A

Well done to those who have resisted the dreaded NPIs, I am very proud of you! I have bought quite a lot in the Boots 90% sale but, in my defence, it was all pressies for the gift cupboard and all paid for with points!!! Fab bargains, thanks Mr B :D
Does anyone else use Silkymitt type hair removers? I rediscovered my yellow foam one that had been MIA for a few [STRIKE]years[/STRIKE] months under the bed and was happily sandpapering away at my lower legs this morning. It was as good as new after a thorough wash.

I use Silkymit sometimes and I love it!!! :)

I believe scents are very evocative of our memories - both good and bad. Sometimes I'll smell a product and be reminded of...a holiday for example. :)

I agree 100%. My 'smell memory' is incredibly powerful. A smell or taste can take me right back to childhood. :)

Sarah sorry to hear you're still having sleeping problems, I suffer from Restless Leg Syndrome too - it's horrible isn't it! I've had it for years - was amazed to find a few years ago that it is now a recognised complaint!

It's so frustrating - I wake up sometimes feeling like I've run a marathon :p The one thing I've found that does help is a vibration machine - if I use it within a few hours of going to bed it can calm it completely - problem is I can't use it at the moment 'cos it plays havoc with my nausea :rotfl: but once my new meds kick in I'll back on daily :T

Lavender always reminds me of my aunt. She used to take me to this herb place and we spent hours in the lavender garden and the lavender section of the gift shop. (got a wonderful burn cream/gel from there - might see if I can find it online :p)

My advice regarding the Grabbit Board is to exercise extreme caution ....
I am sure that the companies themselves must be posting half the offers on their anyway....;)

:rotfl:Yes I often wonder that :rotfl: I do now check myself when getting all 'ooooo' over a Grabbit. I have got some good things (two full size skateboards for £2 ;)) but have also berated myself for a few (see S&G Mini Series below :o). I did go for the Red Letter Day voucher this week and have got 4 Cinema Tickets for a tenner :T I'm debating whether or not use them or put in the pressie stash as they are valid until next september.

But if somebody already owns 600+ products (me included here) shouldn't freebies and samples count as ins because this is about clutter as much as money? I'm not suggesting people don't avail of freebies and samples, just that they should be counted:cool:

Everything I get I'm counting as an IN to my stash - but I'm only adding to my spend total if I pay using actual real live cash that I could have used to pay a bill/buy food/save etc :D

    Talking of IN's :o

My S&G Mini Series Box Set arrived today (ordered in Jan so doesn't count against Feb :D) so I am now the proud owner of The Righteous Butter™ Body Butter Mini, Flake Away™ Body Scrub Mini, Clean On Me™ Body Wash Mini, Calm One Calm All™ Bubble Bath Mini and A giant Sudsy Puff (and it is GIANT ) and the 30ml P&P Beauty Serum I won on eBay on wednesday arrived - which was amazingly fast delivery :T

Ok - what else? Silky Mitts just give me a rash - I think I'm doing it wrong :o I own 2 mascara's and I think one of those is dead :rotfl:

Roshy - where are you? Hope you are celebrating in some way and not commiserating ;)

Have had big long chats with my 'medical team' (OH, Mum & MH Worker :D) and we've decided I should go with the offered meds for my CFS and ask for a referral to a specialist alongside.

Asda & Home Bargins shopping tomorrow - will keep my hands on the trolley and look straight ahead when passing the toiletries aisles - there is NOTHING I need :p:p

Have a good Saturday folks

Hadn't heard of this but it would be great for our used up items. If unsure print out the page and give it to the SA, at least then she can't think you're crazy.:p.

Thats a great idea! I will round them all up and take them in during the week - I'll let you know how I get on :D

Actually - might just take one or two to start with - don't want to have to haul them all home with me if they won't take them off my hands :o

I was thinking today I don't even appreciate the bargains much anymore, I just assume I'll get them:o

OH said something similar to me the other day - I really need to buy a coffee table but am getting frustrated by the prices for 2nd hand ones. He's had to really work hard to convince me that £20 is not expensive for a good wood coffee table. (I'm still not sure though ....;))

And he says I have a habit of picking things up in a shop, looking at the price label and announcing 'I'm not paying that for it - I'll wait 'til it's on offer' :rotfl:
  • Hi. Just popping in quickly. Great posts, ladies.

    UUs:

Finally! The Philosophy foot lotion has run out. WIBA? NOOO! Smells disgusting, although it did soften my skin.
Nivea cream (in big blue tub). WIBA? Yes, great and very versatile but I have other stuff to get through first. My grandmother has used it all her life and has great skin so it can't be bad.

    Have a good day.

  • Hello All.

I haven't caught up with the whole thread yet (its been a trying week!) Hope job interviews went well, poorly people get better and everyone else is doing fabulous.

As I managed to spend nearly £100 in January after joining this thread I would say I failed massively. However, I did glean something very useful out of that £100 (which you lot probably already knew!)

I buy "ranges" generally suckered in to the spiel that all the ingredients "work best" together. Therefore, in an example this month I bought the entire Body Shop Seaweed Range. After a massive dry skin and red itchy/sore breakout, I stopped using it and bought some Avene Thermal stuff for sensitive skin to calm my skin down. However, I didn't just buy some of the Avene range, I bought most of the sensitive/blemish prone stuff.

I then hit upon something after a guilt trip, I really like the mattifying day cream from the BS, I like the cleanser from Avene and the recovery cream and my AHA Gel from Priori. Dare I say it, I have mixed brands and my skin (fingers crossed please) has improved. I will see though.

It might sound daft, but I might have cottoned on to something here which may save me money in the long run.

Plan to paint the nails and have a bit of a beauty night as OH is out tonight. Will have a makeup sort out as well because i have decided that if I don't wear it, what is the point? Hopefully, a sort out will make me realise that I have that I can use and then on Monday I might wear some.
How long til pay day?

  • Sorry you've been ill Rosemary, hope you feel better soon!

Whoever mentioned the salt and vinegar crisps as being good for sickness, that's very interesting, I always crave these crisps when I've been ill! As a child my mam used to think I was using it as an excuse for wanting to eat nothing but crisps, but they genuinely made me feel better!

Feeling quite proud of myself - I went into Lush yesterday and only bought one thing, a 100g piece of the Love Birds soap, and I gave it to my mam - she smelled it and liked it the other weekend but would never pay Lush prices herself!

to those who are feeling unwell I hope you feel better soon

I have a uu and an out to declare:

uu quickies nail polish remover pads - these are brilliant at removing every last trace of polish and really convenient, have another box in the stash so don't need to buy again just yet,

gifted to mum - clinique moisture surge moisturiser, she happened to mention that she'd like to try it so I passed it on,

    happy pampering, xx
