No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge
Comments
-
The last of January's use-ups:
In:
Nothing!
Used up:
- Bar of green soap with black bits. Think it was kiwi. From an on-line offer. WIBA? No, I don't think so. The soap was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. I can't remember where I got it from anyway, so can't!
- Natio Organic Rosehip Oil (15mL). WIBA? Yes, but I have another ready to be used! I've decided to steer more towards natural toiletries as my stash replenishes, and this fits the bill. It's very nice to massage in, doens't leave my skin feeling oily, and used at night under moisturiser seems to work just as well as any serum I've tried. I may try another make if I can find a cheaper/generic brand.
- Clinique city cover compact concealer in City Light Neutral (1.4g). WIBA? Possibly. It did a good job. I just don't use concealer very often!
Thrown out:
- No7 Firm-Your-Body Sun Lotion SPF15 (200mL). Approx. 40% left. Was opened last summer, so should get rid.
- No7 Energising Facial Suncare SPF25 (50mL). Approx. 10% left. Also opened last summer.
- Clarins Sun Care Cream SPF20 (20mL). Not sure how much is left, but I've had it a few years. WIBA? This was a sample size, possibly from a GWP. I burn very easily, so wouldn't pay Clarins' prices for sun cream - it's far too expensive for something that gets slathered on the way I have to use it!
Gifted:
- Sanctuary Pampering gift set (mini sizes of four body items). Given to a friend who has just had a baby, along with some baby bits.
- Johnson's Baby Talc (200mL). Given with the above.
- Johnson's Baby Bedtime Oil (300mL). Given with the above.
- Johnson's Baby Cream (100mL). Given with the above. (By the way, this makes an excellent hand cream if you don't have a baby!)
I don't have regular access to the internet yet, so am very busy trying to keep up with the thread! It's great though - thank you to everyone for posting0 -
Roshy, I hope all went well :j
Three UU's for me today -
S&G flake away, wiba, no. Althouugh I loved the smell it didn't give me a deep enough scrub. I have now opened sugar crush and that has a better scrub but I am not keen on the smell
Lush whoosh shower jellie, wiba, no. I love the concept and value for money but they take forever to use. This one was too strong for me too, I may consider buying sweetie pie again, sometime.
Lush angel delight soap chunk, wiba, yes. I love Lush soaps, and this one if is one of my top 5. However its a christmas scent so will not be able to purchase it until next Christmas anyway0 -
Speaking of empty bottles - has anyone used the Origins Recycling Programme - where you get samples for giving them your empty cosmetic/toiletries bottles to recycle? Did the SA know what you were talking about? (What samples did you get?:p) I have a small collection now but don't want to haul them into town to be completely embarassed when the SA hasn't been informed
Hadn't heard of this but it would be great for our used up items. If unsure print out the page and give it to the SA, at least then she can't think you're crazy.:pThis year I want to use the money I usually spend on toiletries and cosmetics on slightly more worthwhile pursuits.
Me too but I can't stop myself from buying cosmetics, there seems to be a bargain a day at the moment. I got another OLAY €0.49 wake up wonder moisturiser today with a skincare voucher I found....not that I could do anything worthwhile for €0.49:rotfl: Was also amazed that these hadn't been snapped up, most people just don't see the bargains.
I was thinking today I don't even appreciate the bargains much anymore, I just assume I'll get them:o

Kaz Our sense of smell is a very powerful thing huh? I got "throwing up drunk" on cider once about 25 years ago - and my aversion to the smell of cider is still as strong as ever.
Rosemary Get well soon lovely. You poor thing!Sending you lots of love. :happyhear
I get the same efect from brandy :rotfl:juliebunny wrote: »Rosemary - adding my thoughts to the others on here.
Have you thought about being vegetarian (although someone on here said they got ill from squirty - unfortunate time to use that word - cream....) :rotfl: sorry, I am not belittling the illness, but I do have a warped sense of humour...and hopefully when you are feeling better you will look back on this thread with some humour....and warmth from all the hugs we are sending you.:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
I've been veggie since I was 14 - yes I do take lots of vitamins to keep up my B12 and Iron - and yes, I have loads from 3 for 2 offers - they are in my bathroom stash!
Didn't trust myself to leave my desk at lunchtime today.....:embarasse after reading about the boots £5 skincare vouchers
I'm veggie too! What kind of vits do you take? I think I should take something and do you know of a veggie friendly evening primrose oil vitamin? I could really do with some of those!!Blonde_Ambition wrote: »Why didn't I know about this before?! I'd never read the grabbit board but now I'm going to be addicted. Just got two free tickets to Ascot. Sorry, I don't know how to do links. It's free raceday.
Sounds fun! Ascot is a lovely racecourse! Hope you have fun
Hope you feel better soon Rosemary
Thanks for the Aldi link And, I wish I lived near an Aldi!
Off to catch up on the rest of the thread! You lot can chat!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -
Hi All,
Loving this challenge, I'm working my way through all the posts, but haven't yet managed to list out all my toiletries so I can really face up to how bad it has got.
I have a full height cupboard in the bathroom stuffed to the rafters with a mixture of lovely, and not so lovely toiletries, mostly bought by myself (so no-one else to blame!)
I am definitely going to try to follow the Pink Rose Candle philosophy - but not managed to start on a favourite yet. It was about third favourite for my last pampering, I will have to work up to the gorgeous smelling Dead Sea spa bottles that I have waiting in the cupboard
On the plus side, one UU, the hand soap in the bathroom, and instead of replacing it with a new one, I have instead topped it up with some honey shower gel that I wasn't particularly keen on, so will get another UU in a few weeks time instead of buying a new hand soap and throwing away the honey shower gel.Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

Evening everyone
to the Victster - typical veggie will be low in B12 and iron, so I take that....so its multi vits, calcium, cranberry tablets, B complex, gingo biloba when I remember (supposed to help memory!), Vitamin C....I think that's it....I have really noticed the difference in my energy levels!! :j:j:j:j:j:j
I tend to use the Tescos vitamins - the Boots ones aren't always veggie! Dont take evening primose oil - what is that supposed to do - I could happily add another one to my stash!
I was wondering tonight when I will ever use up my stash of Champneys minis and how long it will be until i get to my new and exciting things. So I have now worked out that I can use a 50g of body butter in 2 sessions - a BS Butter is 4 times that - now trying to work out how many butterings I will get from my favourites!!
I reckon Roshy is either down the pub or having a nice pamper, either way, to soothe her nerves after the stress leading up to today! Whichever way it went, we're all here for you Roshy
Had a dangerous moment tonight when I drove past the Boots outlet in East London....luckilyI couldn't work out how to get into the retail park from the other side of the dual carriageway, and the traffic was heaving so couldn't face going back on myself....I may venture in if I've been good during Feb - just to report back to you guys of course.....:)
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0 -
Hello everyone
Rosemary-hope you feel better soon:)
I only have half a champneys hand cream left and want nivea soft which is 2 for £5 in sainsbury's (it's a HG) and it's not on offer very often. Please?:o
Either that or I can get 3 avon hand creams for £3.75:)
Superdrug also has little green tin on 3 for 2 (also HG) and I have none (but I do have enough lip balm to last 10 years) I promise I won't buy any:TToiletry spend £34.95 In: 10 out:130 -
adilaide - I think thats allowed - I seem to remember that we were allowed one in use and one in the stash, and you have one in use already which is nearly gone (ish!) so the offer would eb a very sensible thing to have IMO....
Rosemary - that sounds awful, hope its nothing terrible and that you get well soon.
Roshy - hope your day went well !
I went into Boots today, picked up a couple of things, then put them down again... and the same in TK Max !!!!
happy weekend everyone !Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -
well in an effort to use something up tonight i have used the following whilst having a shower:
L'oreal Perfection shampoo (now spluttering) not really that keep but it was with the hair colourant.
Superdrug Coconut and Sweet Almond intensive conditioner
Tresemme conditioner (for shaving)
razor UU yippee only another 3 billion to go hence only using each one once
Sanctuary body wash
Avon SSS dry oil spray
when i get to bed i'll get OH to moisturise my feet with my Virgin Vie foot gel.
I smell like i'm a body shop outlet and i don't seem to be any nearer to finishing anything than when i started. but it's all a good start.
People will probably use more than this quite regularly but i have a habit to try and get in and out as quickly as possible when i have a shower and don't pamper myself much.0 -
Lemon Tree - I'm the same when I have a shower too - particulary before work!
Used up a few things tonight:
BS passion fruit body butter
Spa Paradisa shower scrub
BS coconut shimmer bubble bath
Would not buy any of this again! There's far better products out there!
Also recieved the Benefit 'powder time lover' set of blushers today, not counting this as I bought it in January! I've wanted to try these for a while and they were reduced to £12.50 with 10% off and 45p cashback! So I felt justified!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0
