No Buying Toiletries in February Challenge

  • The trick for this is to buy a cheap shower gel or bubble bath (I use Boots Essentials Pure White Bath Creme as you can get a 1 litre bottle for pennies and it doesn't really smell of anything so doesn't affect the smell of the product) and put that in the bath before you add the Lush stuff. You still have to rinse the bath out to get rid of all the colour/glitter but it will definitely not stick anywhere near as much as it will 'straight'.

Many thanks for the tip - I'll try and remember for next time I receive one as a gift (probably mothers Day) :D

When I said it was everywhere , I meant everywhere in the house in the bath, all over the bathroom floor, in the bedroom carpet, in the bed sheets and the towels :eek: I've had to wash everything in sight (gawd knows how the washer is coping with all that glitter) and although I've swept the bathroom floor several times I still keep finding more!!!:eek: I've even showered each day since using it and whilst soaping myself down am still finding sparkly bits (it really does get into every nook and cranny):eek:

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

ps. Congrats on the win Sarah*a
:naughty: Save money on toiletries: no new/duplicate items until I've used up all existing supplies

Pink Rose Candle Throwaway philosophy is liberating me!

Binned a cheap, very wet and neutral smelling Thai Spa body lotion and three quarters of a bottle of the Body Shop On a High Hydrating Puree, which sounds divine on the website but is a bottle full of nothingness IMHO.

Whoever said earlier on this thread that some Body Shop products were overpriced, I totally agree. They have some superb products that really come up with the goods, but a lot of over-hyped mediocre, over-priced stuff too. I find their Home Fragrance Oils really poor value for money too, they are soooo diluted in the carrier oil. Much better to buy the concentrates elsewhere.

    Be discerning ladies!

Nowhere very exciting! Just Bodmin! Would love to move back to Cornwall, but definitely not Bodmin!

I think it's my mum's cousin who lives in Bodmin, and I think her name is Pat Munn, she writes books about Bodmin, and I enjoyed our visit to the old jail when we found out about Charlotte Dymund.

Also my friend has admitted that she bought me Lush stuff for Valentines day today as well...might see her tomorrow, so probably more IN's to report then...i haven't got her anything, wasn't actually expecting her to buy me anything...bit strange tbh. i think i will raid my stash and see what i can give her.

Hi, I'm a lurker since 2010, but this is the first time I post (I've been failing miserably trying to stick to the "no buying"!).

Anyway, just wanted to point out that in other countries Valentine's is actually the "Day of love and friendship", so it was nice of your friend to get you something.

It's also a nice thing to adhere to when you don't have a special someone to spend Valentine's with! (I had many a day like that with my best mate, both of us grumbling over all the loved up couples walking past...:rotfl:)

Off to the naughty step for me :o after something caught my eye on the new Boots bargains thread. John Frieda 2 for €9 (or £7.50 I think). Nothing too spectacular about that except it includes the night serum that's usually really expensive, around £15 for 1 and the new 3 day straightening spray which I used this evening. Fabulous stuff I think but it's only been 3 hours since I used it so can't confirm that it'll last 3 days. Bottle is only 100ml which makes it expensive at full price and the serum is only 50ml so again really small for the price but good value on offer.

S&G sugar crush wiba, yes. I actually changed my opinion on this, I loved the scrub but didn't like the smell but the smell has grown on me and I will buy it again at some point although Lush's are still my HG.

I love this S&G Spa scrub, the smell is so zesty.

It was my birthday yesterday - I tell you all this now to justify the INs I have:-

    OK, first off birthday gifts:-

MrM gave me another set of the last Elemis TSV so I have more ProCollagen Marine Cream (my HG and now have full year's stock I hope), Frangipani Moisture Melt Shower Cream and Oil, Nourishing Milk Hand and Body Lotion (already have one of these on the go in the kitchen and it is gorgeous) and Melting Cleansing Gel (have switched this to my night time cleanser as it was making my skin oily during the day)

My daughter Emma bought me the Leighton Denny TSV which has 5 lacquers, Miracle drops, Cuti Lips (I think this is an exfoliator for the cuticles (which I'll try to use once all my Avoplex oil and Avon Cuticle Balm have gone)), buffer, file and hoof stick.

So you know how it is on your birthday - well I wanted to treat myself as well. Bought a super size of the Ojon Ultra Hydrating Conditioner which is still on Special Buy in JL for £22.00. Seemed rude not to when the 250ml costs £19.00 and considering Emma has been helping herself I'll need some sooner rather than later.

Also bought myself a Clinique Lash Power mascara in Onyx Black. I was going to buy an Avon mascara but my Avon lady put the order in too late and said she had not put any order in at all so thinks her account may be closed. I used to use the Lash Power so thought I would treat myself. Didn't realise the price had hiked up though. Last time I got one it was £12.50 and now are £15.00. Tube seems smaller as well.

Two UUs this week as well:-

Travel sized bottle of Simple eye make up remover. WNBA. It feels good (not oily as others feel) but was ineffective on mascara. Surprised at how long the bottle lasted though. Have now started the L'Oreal one that all your ladies rave about. So far so good, feels very fresh on my eyelids and removes every last trace of mascara - yay I may have found my HG at last.

TBS Almond body lotion. To begin with I didn't like this product because it felt like it did nothing. Then when I had got a fair way through the product and the pump was not dispensing much I took to tipping it out onto my hands to apply and found it worked a lot better! Not sure about the smell though, a bit sickly and it has been a struggle to finish off but I was being defiant because I've bought so many things on TBS sale only to chuck them away unfinished. Feel quite proud of myself. Need to really tell myself though that I won't buy on TBS sales anymore. If other people aren't buying a particular product then maybe I shouldn't.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • Hi All,

I've got one UU to report - a Sanctuary Body Lotion (75ml) WNBA - not overly keen on the smell and I've got loads of Sanctuary stuff in my stash.

I have been sort of naughty - trying my best to wiggle off of the naughty step though! I've got two INs to report these are from my local poundshop - Creighton's 3 minute repair treatment and a Henna Treatment Wax. When I say I'm trying to wiggle off the naughty step these are my first INs this year ! and I haven't got anything like this in my stash apart from 1 small tube of VO5 Hot Oil which I will probably use in the morning. :A

juliebunny - do you twitter? or are you on Facebook? Because you might get more joy from them if you contact them 'publicly' IYKWIM?

I had a bad experience with PapaJohns Pizza and left a comment on their FB page and they've just told me they are sending me a free pizza voucher - so it's worth a try. :D

I have to confess to having ducks for the bath - but they just sit next to it!! :D

I spend aaaaaaaages sometimes trying to work out the meanings of some things on this website! Sarah - can't work this one out sorrrrry! IYKWIM?

Was running a bath whilst I popped in here to catch up and just looked in the bathroom as the bubbles started to go over the side, LOL!! :rotfl: I have the luxury of choosing a new body lotion from my stash tonight!! It's a tough call......hmmmm....:) I am almost through all the boring ones now so can choose something yummy!:T

    Happy birthday VALM!!
