i did a service on my civic type r at the weekend
£35 for oil
£4 oil filter
£14 pollon filter
£16 alternator belt
£69 ish bearing in mind i already had antifreeze and screen wash
some of those prices above seem quite good for garage prices
was also only really an engine bay service as i did all the brake pads and discs last month0 -
£130 at local independent. Extras are, well, extra (although he has been known to do things like fanbelts for nowt, despite my protestations that he's ripping himself off).0

Would they be genuine Honda parts?
What Oil does the Type R use?0 -
uses some stuff from honda that they reckon is good for the vtec system i think its just a sneaky sales pitch
its called HondaLEV 10/30
i got a HAMP oil filter it slightly increase oil pressure i think HAMP is an off shoot of JDM
pollen filter wasnt genuine and the belt was a gates one so probably the same as a honda one i know GM use gates belts
how ever the vtec did seem to be a bit sharper at the point where it comes in so maybe the oil does help or maybe it was just because its clean0 -
Done mine at the weekend
£3 for Oil (Clearance at Asda)
£8 Oil Filter
£8 Air Filter
Just need to get some spark plugs now.0 -

Couldn't agree more! Before I used to take it to Nation Wide or something, just because they where close, found a small indy garage that is miles better! Cheaper than the other place as well!
I've not got mine serviced yet, but its £125 for one.

This post reminded me -- does anyone know if Asda are still doing the 5l of 10W/40 oil for £6 deal they had going a couple of weeks ago? I could do with some top-up oil but the only stuff I have currently is 15W/40 and I'd rather not put that in a newer Japanese engine.0
