Possible hole in my bath (pics included)

Please can anyone help me see if I have a hole in my bath.
The possible hole is about the size of a rice grain. It looks corroded.
I thought it was just a dirty mark but when I tried to clean it - it wouldn't budge, and is has a texture, the dark bits have eaten into the bath.
My bath is fibreglass I think, its an old late 70's avocado-ish bath.
If it is a hole, is there anything I can get to repair it?
Here's a close up http://s1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee447/starfish53/?action=view¤t=DSC00303.jpg
Here's another picture to give you an idea of the size of it.

Many thanks

you can repair it from the back. using epoxy resin and some glass fibre matting.
ps,
i would only do it as a temp measure till i installed a new suite.Get some gorm.0 -
From looking at the pictures, do you think it is a hole?
How long would a temporary repair last, as there is no way I can afford a new bathroom suite.
PS I'm a woman and novice about fitting baths, or any diy for that matter.
Many thanks0 -
You will only know for definite if it is a hole if, when the bath is full of water, you can see water dripping out of it.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

As the hole is near the plughole, I wont be able to see, because, although I have not had the bath panel off, I believe that there is a chipboard base underneath the bath, so I wont be able to tell if there is a leak. You will only know for definite if it is a hole if, when the bath is full of water, you can see water dripping out of it.0 -

Yes you will. The chipboard base will be wet.
Go and take the bath panel off and have a look then come bask here and tell us what you think.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
I took the side panel off and there is no chip board underneath, but the bath is fixed to M shaped legs which span the bath. I could not get a picture of the underside of the leg, where the leak would be above as it is too dark.
There is also a white pipe running across the base of the bath, I leaned on this and heard a cracking like sound, and I live in a flat, the flat below me is empty.
Does this mean the pipe has leaked.
The image hosting website I used in my last post has got problems at the minute and I cannot upload photos.0 -
How about putting sheets of newspaper over the area you think is suspect (including the pipe) and run some water into the bath with the plug in (just enough to cover the hole, no need for any more). If there is a leak, the paper will be damp when you remove it, and will give you an idea of how serious and its location.
Good luck - we replaced an avocado bath 3 years ago, after living with it with a 3 inch crack in it - we ended up only having showers, and covering the cracked area with fibreglass repair kit (as used for repairing cars) and Duct tape........ Didn't look very pretty, but did the job. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
christ, are you sure bundance isnt a troll?
With the greatest of respect
What do I have to gain by trolling?
especially a site like this.
I have anxiety as I am withdrawing from tranquilisers, and am in a temporary state where I am unable to distinguish between things worth worrying about and things not worth worrying about.
The sooner I am well again, the better, because I am not enjoying this state at all, and hate to ask seeiminly silly questions, but a troll, I am definitely NOT.

As I could not get pictures from photobucket to show you, I went to see my next door neighbour (I didnt want to bother him initially as I have been asking him loads of questions and have taken up his time)
When he saw my predicament he was happy to help me.
He reassured me, and while he was there he found that the plastic pipe mentioned above, was not resting on anything and pointing downwards s so the water had not been draining away properly. (no wonder I'd had previous drainage problems) so he sat the pipe on something to make it level, and reassured me I hadnt cracked it. He even helped me put the bath panel back on, and was pleased I investigated it.0 -
jc808 I hope you never have to deal with any mental illness and neither do any of your family or friends.
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
