Ford Smart Service

I'm normally so sceptical of service plans but wanted to let others know that I have always serviced my car using Ford Value Service for £99. This year, it's due for a major service, which costs about £270 at the Ford dealership.

I decided to get a quote for Ford Smart Service plan and shockingly, it's a great deal!!

£17 a month! It includes MOTs as well as servicing. Only costs £25 when you want to cancel.

So if I keep it for 15months - it will cover me for 2 MOTs = £110, plus major service = £270. Total £380.

I'll only have paid out 15 x £17 = £255, and £25 to cancel = £280. A £100 saving!! And the costs get spread out!

Just thought I'd tell you all about it as I was very surprised! It might be worth considering if you're due for a major service.

Thanks for that. Mine is due a major as well in a few months and MOT a couple of months after that. Was it something your main dealer mentioned? I've had a quick Google and nothing coming up.

Fair enough if you want a main dealer service but surely cheaper to get an independent to do the major service for £120 (many will do the mot free or half price as they can do the two at the same time.

This also means you dont get stung into paying continually if you forget to cancel the direct debit.

Easy to say you wont but how many gym memberships, and magazine subscriptions have we all had for far too long after we first intended to cancel.

Also suspect this is a dealer offer and not a national offer. Its available nationally but each dealer will set their own prices.

    .

My local garage is only £2 cheaper than the main dealer. However the local garage changes things that don't need changing but doesn't change things that do. In addition, they don't stamp the body warranty page so if I needed to make a claim for corrosion within the first 10 years, I can't do.

    Hi.

Yes the main dealer mentioned it when I took it in for a service back in December. There were two option - Smart Service and Smart Service Plus. He was trying to sell me the Smart Service Plus with breakdown cover but I declined as was more expensive. Not sure if links are allowed but I'll try - https://www.dagenhammotors.co.uk/service/service-plan-sign-up-form/?group_name=dagenham&ORIGINAL_REQUEST=/service/service-plan-sign-up-form/&prefix=dlrgroup&LEAD_AREA=service&LEAD_SUBJECT=service%20plan%20sign-up

It says there from £19.99 but mine is £17!!

As for cancelling the DD - I am so on top of these things. Never didn't get my cashback on mobile deals etc, so am not worried! Have taken note that after the 2012 MOT I need to deal with it!

Also the car has been serviced at the dealership since new and I'd like to keep it with a full dealership history - just my personal preference and so far I haven't had to pay a ridiculous price for it! MOT is a few months away from my service date unfortunately!

I am presuming this is a dealer based offer, rather than a franchise/manufacturer offer, as I don't seem to be able to find anything on their website?

That can still be done separately by the main dealer for free.

I seriously would not trust Dagenham Motors if they were the last dealer on Earth and they were paying a million pounds and offering massages and "personal services" for free.

Depends on whether your more concerned about the condition of your car or the condition of the service record. Personally I don't give a hoot about service records.....

Err no because they have to do an underbody inspection and they charge if they don't do the service.

    That depends on the dealer.
