Are they even looking for work or is straight onto benefits the idea? But now they leave at the same time and jobs are scarce in our area, they have not even had any luck getting part time jobs, they are snapped up so quickly.
Quit haressing this OP please. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Do you mean sons/daughters/son & daughter?
Because if they are old enough to have left education then they aren't children.
You will be three adults living in a house, child benefits don't go on forever;)
Eldest DS is 21, doesn't live with us, but he's still our child, not our adult.:D
OP, you'll still get HB, when they're working, you tell them how much they earn, and adjust benefit, expecting them to pay their share, which isn't huge, I presume they'll do the same with JSA.
They need to be applying for jobs NOW, before they leave education.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Exactly where, please does the OP suggest this?
Where? If they do not get jobs straight away and only get job seekers allowance or whatever it is now (never claimed it so dont know). What then, can i charge them rent and they claim housing benefit or am i just expected to keep them for nothing. .
Please see above0 -
So if the Landlord (the guy I currently rent the property from) re does the tenancy to rent to all 3 of us at £250 each then they could claim whatever Housing benefit they needed to cover that.
Please se my post below, you claim LHA for all three, with two dependent adults. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

The OP does not understand how the benefits system works when her children leave FT education.
Simples?
What she wants to know is whether there is any way of getting help with their share of the rent.
At no time is she suggesting that their JSA is pocket money.
So, Mrs E, please stop harressing yet another OP, as you do all the time.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
OP try not to worry.
Your 2 should start looking for jobs ASAP if they haven't already done so.
With regards to your housing benefit, I'd go to your local housing office and ask them about what you can claim now your children have come out of education. You may even be able to claim tax credits for yourself if your wage is low. there's no harm in trying and they can only say No!
Hopefully one or both of them will find a job soon.
Good Luck!
ETA : Not impressed with some of the comments on this thread. Put yourselves in the OPs shoes and ask yourself how you would like to have those comments directed at yourself. :cool:Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
No it is not.
it covers living expenses - food and utilities.
OP, you will need to put in a claim for Local Housing Allowance in your name with two dependent adults.

I looked it up last night for a friend in the same situation. They would be expected to pay about £10 a week hb and council tax out of their benefits. You need to look up the non dependant deductions for your circumstances.0
