Yes I've heard a few horror stories about the brakes, I bought the Coupe, 04 plate 2.0l SE, and fortunately it had new front brakes at the last MOT. Recent work also included a new clutch and new cam belt.
The service book is all stamped up along with an 11 month MOT. Just need to get it taxed at the end of the month, and one of the tyres will need replacing in a few months, I reckon.

I drove it from Derby to Edinburgh yesterday up the M6, about 310 miles. Was a lovely drive with a decent MPG. Used about three quarters of a tank, costing about £45.
Don't really understand the trip computer, I can't reset the trip mileage and the 'mile distance to empty' doesn't really make sense.
The alarm system isn't the best either, although it does work.

All in all, very pleased. ;)

My girlfriend had a gen 1 2l se and had both rear calipers sieze, her dad has a gen 2 2004 plate and one of the rear calipers seized on that too. Tyres seem to go down all the time on them, both got standard alloys, even had new tyres and they still went down. Fuel consumption wasn't very good either about 30mpg unless its a long motorway journey.

She had a rear wheel bearings go too, the bearing comes with the hub so you cant just buy the bearing itself so they cost a lot more.

I would stay well clear to be honest, better cars out there for the money.

Two cars and three seized calipers between them, thats not good.

If its a 2004 plate, it will be a gen 3. I'll keep an eye on the tyres.;)
