Hi, thinking of getting one for my next car, gen 1,2 or 3 depending on what what money I'll have In a month or so.
Been researching them recently and seem spot on for what I'm looking for in a car.

Anyone got any experience with them and bad points for me to keep in mind?
Thanks in advance!

Reliable and well built. Not quite as good to drive as the looks might suggest -- it's a FWD Elantra under the skin. 2.7V6 is thirsty and the clutches on the manual V6s don't seem to last too long (~50-60K or so). 2l the one to go for -- bulletproof (Mitsubishi) engine and a better balance for the car, although not terribly quick (decent rather than exciting). 6 footers don't fit (I didn't, but my brother had one). Brake discs are a pain to replace -- bearing often needs to be replaced at the same time. Gets through front tyres quite quickly.

Other than that, one of the more solid cars out there and a good car in its own right, if you accept that it isn't, and never will be, an out-and-out sports car, just a very good looking motor (at least the newer ones are).

We looked at one about four years ago. It was a Sunday. Ex demonstrator at the local Hyundai dealership. The 'salesman' eventually found a key and I sat in it. I'm 5'11" and my head was pressed hard against the roof. 'Salesman' said he couldn't adjust the seat because it was electric adjustment and the batteries were removed from stock kept externally to prevent theft. At no point did I get the impression they wanted my money. I thought the interior was cheap looking to the point of shoddy.

We bought a Mazda RX-8 PZ in the end.

Well I'm not a speed freak anyway, biggest engine I've had was a 1.4 16v Polo so a 2l seems fine for what I want. Thats what is appealing to me, that its a sports car look but not with the oomph!

I'm 5'10'' so might be just the right size! I'll phone the nearest dealership and arrange a test drive. Was there an issue with the gen 3's having to be called back?

Very comfy and very stable at +100MPH speeds (not me driving). 26MPG out of the V6 though.

    Can't you handle speed?

I think there is a 1.6 as well.

Yeah there is a 1.6 but I would go for the 2.0l. For the difference in tax and insurance between 1.6 and 2.0 its not a lot. Leather interior is a bonus too which i think is standard on the 2.0 litre and only on the SE model on 1.6.

You don't seem worried by such things but I would have a Toyota Celica over a Hyundai for me its a better car. But then for fun cars I say the roof has to come off so guess what, a MX5 or Honda S2000. If you need 4 seats then a BMW 3 Series Coupe.

I had a 07 plate 2.OL from new on a short term lease for 6 months.

Good car with no problems and good fuel economy however it was not really suitable for the 2000 miles a month that I was doing for work.

I am 6ft and never had any issues with headroom but the seat was all the way back of course.

I wouldn't be able to afford the Honda or BMW. Don't really like the Celica look TBH. The coupe is my fav due to the sporty looks but running costs of a normal car.

The Ford Puma is an option too but Coupe remains No.1!
