  • I'm not being obstructive honestly, I went onto the comparison websites and yes I can get almost to the end and then it flashes up " sorry we are unable to insure you at this time"

Don't mean to sound like you are being obstructive but there must be some factors here you are not telling us.

So you are saying that if you put your details into a price comparison site (eg moneysupermarket, confused.com) you get back no results.

This is way too much of a generalisation. I had a crash in March and it still isn't settled. I had to declare an unsettled claim when I renewed my insurance in December and I got loads of quotes.

me too, im still waiting for my claim from september 2008 to be settled!!!! i have renewed twice in that time, yes both years i used my insurer aviva but i always do comparison websites to check the price and i didnt get any rejections. the other driver admitted liability but i havent been paid a penny yet so the process is not over
  • its definitely got to be an admin error in my case then...I hope

I'd be on the phone every day pestering the insurance company until they cave-in and settle.

  • When I wrote my Hubby's Car off they deducted the remaining years premium from the payout but they allowed us to insure his new car under the the exsisting poilcy. In actual fact his new car was cheaper to insure, but we got no rebate (fair enough). Hubby renewed Decs 07, I wrote car off Jan 08 we bought replacement car Mar 08 but it went under the same policy.

Could you not do something similar? I was at fault, no other driver involved, don't know if that makes a difference.
  • I will try this thanks as this is what I was led to believe would happen. The insurance company are being a bit evasive at the moment. I am going to give them a call tomorrow using everything I have learned on here ..it is getting pretty frustrating

You obviously answered no to a question they expect a yes to. Most wont quote on a car thats not
registered in your name and owned by you. But a quick call soon sorts that out. They either cover you
or add a small premium and cover you.

I get declined for a quote from saga, Its not because i am uninsurable its because i am not over 50 which
    they insist on.

What I can't work out is how a lorry overtook you, pulled back in some time later and ended up pushing you up the motorway, even if it pulled in before completely passing you.

In order to push something, said something has to be in front of you.

Methinks that you saw the lorry indicating to pull back in and decided to undertake it because like most people you'll do anything not to be stuck behind a lorry/caravan etc. That is the only plausible way you could have ended up in front of it without him seeing you.

Now, if you had said the lorry pulled out without looking, and hit you in the second lane..........
