My council have £14m to invest in repairing their property hence why I am getting new fence, landscape gardners, new bathroom and new kitchen and if I am not happy with their work I will complain as I am the one having to live with it!0 -

Concerned if you rented a private property, I can guarantee that if you had an old knackered fence the landlord would not replace it. He/She would leave it for as long as you rented. It would probably be replaced when you left and only if it was stopping new tenants renting or pushing the rental price down.
I guess people don't post generally positive comments since the situation is that you are renting a property at well below private rental rates, have greater security of tenure and in general have all major problems fixed pretty quicky as the owner is a Housing Association and you complain about the councils service, which you are really doing in your post, when improving the property for your benefit.
I guess if you had prosed your post asking about legal height of front fence then all the replies would have been postive.
Something like.
Hi,
I am in the fortunate position of my landlord replacing my garden fencing. However, there has been some poor communication on his part and it looks like the front section will be replaced with 6ft panel on Monday morning after I expressly stated to fit 4ft panels for safety measures, as 6ft panels will cause me some difficulty getting out of my drive safely.
Is there a legal requirement to have panels at the front under a certain height?0 -

Well if it's happy days, stop whining about a free fence.0 -
In that case you will be able to well-afford your precious ruddy gates then, won't you?
Shrewd move waiting till all the modernisation is done, as soon as you put in that RTB1 form all repairs and maintenance will stop even if you don't end up buying.0 -

well pretty irrelevant as I am not a private tenant and the council have a legal obligation to make repairs.

not my problem, the nature of the beast and if people are so upset then they have every right to apply for a council house of their own.
But to complain about the councils service, which you are really doing in your post, when improving the property for your benefit is never going to get favourable posts.
Of course I am complaining - who wants a 6ft fence in their front garden which puts people at risk and its not improving the property as it is not fit for purpose.0 -

Its not a case of affording them - that's not the point, its not my property and until it is then I expect the council to maintain and repair their property!
Shrewd move - No - all repairs are done at the council's insistance, have no say in the matter!0 -
I see where the op is coming from because i have just had a wall built in my front and when reversing out i can not see kids at all and my car is a land-rover that's high....try and stick to your guns m8 because it is a safety problem.. iknow where you are coming fromIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0
