Who rang to demand the extra £50, the hotel themselves or the booking agent?

Presumably she is in posession of a confirmation of the reservation as well as the receipt?

Surely this kinda comes under racism/discrimination?

I doubt i'd be allowed to run a hotel and go "oh, you look a bit asian. Here's a £50 surcharge."

or "you're an unmarried gay couple, we dont accept unmarried couples here":(

Be very suspicious that this might be someone scamming on the basis of booking details and a phone number.

  • I agree, this stinks of a scam.

Before anyone does anything, the hotel needs to explain themselves if indeed, they have actually requested this and not some chancers who happened upon the booking system.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Assuming the phone call was from the hotel and they cannot give a legitimate reason for the surcharge... if your parents have to book somewhere else to stay, and are unable to find one in the same area for a similar price... I wonder if you could sue the original hotel for loss of bargain?

Or just refuse to pay the extra as the hotel had already accepted the booking and insist that they honour it!

On a recent trip to Egypt there was a display of prices on the backs of the room doors, in rather large letters it stated that Egyptian Nationals only paid half that of other overseas tourists! Call them back and say surely you mean £50 'discount'?

I agree though, something smells fishy.
  • Apparently in Russia tourists pay double what Russians pay to go into musemums etc.

It's the same in Mauritius too.

Why not just ask the hotel and who called to ask for the money, was it the hotel or the booking agent
  • Might be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 64 but....

.....London and April ? Stay isn't around the 29th is it?

Though can't see the arguement that your parents are english would have any relevance though.

weekend of the 13th it will be so not easter or whatever BH itll be then.
