I have just bought a Belkin wireless dongle for my old laptop with wireless and need to connect it. However the Belkin dongle needs a 10 digit password (apparently) it has taken about 3 looooong phone calls to establish this! It currently is only 8
Anyway I had a very kind offer to change it for me for £29.99!!!!!!!! OMG!!! No thank you was my very polite reply!
Anyway I have been on several web sites to try and change it including :
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081207142736AAvKlEw
But still had no luck. I am about to pull my hair out and I am really considering changing my password for £30 although it would pain me to do so.
You are my final hope before the pennies go whizzing out of my bank - any ideas??

which router.
the password and encryption type has to match the router settings, which can be found by logging into the router config screen.
wpa encryption keys can be 8 - 63 characters
if you are using wep, change it to wpa or wpa2, as it's outdated and insecure!!

Model?
Make and model of the wireless router you are trying to connect it to?
You simply use the same wireless encryption code that is already entered into your wireless router.
Make sure you use one of the WPA protocols and not WEP, which is not secure. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Thanks for quick response -
the router model is wgr614
when using the belkin dongle it only lets me use WEP
and not - WPA
but to be honest I don't know what either of these things mean - I am just so desperate to not pay £30 that I am trying0 -

I have managed to log into the account on the router and I have changed the password to a 10 digit one and it still won't let me do it.0 -
