I'm also very good at having plans to rid myself of debt, which fall by the wayside and never seem to come to much, but this time I am determined - its got to go!! I get so envious of people who have spare money, just to do simple things like fill my car right up with petrol, or not have to add up what I'm spending going round Asda, or buy my kids new clothes from Next without feeling guilty!!
We are getting married at a lovely country house hotel, I will pm you a link later! That is literally all I have done so far, as I want to get my finances sorted out first, before I go and start spending what I don't have all over again!! LoL
Thats good that you have a good support network of bridesmaids etc, I only have one and its my 21 year old sister, who has already started with her lists of "I'm not doing this, that and the next thing!" The Joys!
We can spur each other on to get it sorted this time once and for all, alongside enjoying the wedding planning too
I know all too well of the sister thing, I have my older sister refusing to come to the wedding because she is not a bridesmaid.....as you say..... 'The Joys!'....0 -

I hope things are going well with wedding planning!
I have been so side tracked with the wedding and studies that i have neglected my debt busting- infact i have added to it  which is to be expected i suppose.
I have a new post marriage diary but havent posted in it for a while. You have inspired me to update it tonight!!

Hello you!! I love the new name!
Hopefully we can all get back to it and start working at this debt business once and for all.

Morning diary,
Successful long weekend of de-cluttering. House is looking amazing :j
Took a full car load to the charity shop yesterday and we've got rid of about 5 large sacks of rubbish too. Very theraputic is this business! Still a little bit more to do but the loft now has no junk in it, only things that we intend on keeping and i'd say that over 50% or more of the loft space is now free. The plan is to put up racking and keep it functional. Mainly being that the access to it is so easy that it's best to utilise this space well and therefore leaving the house itself less cluttered.
Money front, not spent a lot seen as been in my loft most of the weekend or at rubbish tip.
Diet and exercise - also good. Went for a run last night, nearly passed out it was soooooooooooooo hot and this was at 9pm!! Felt better for it and def slept better so it's a start.
10 months today until we get married :j:D:j:D:j:D:j:D:j
Must work now, dental appt later this morning to look forward too....not! More money
Have a good day all, Choc x0 -
OMG 10 months! That will fly by!!
I booked ours last May and that feels like a few months ago and suddenly it has come and been!!! Enjoy every moment hun x
Well done with the loft! We are slowly decluttering - have my last exams this week so will have a bit more time then. I keep decluttering little areas so it is getting there! Definitely feels theraputic!! xOrange Fairy

Morning diary,
Not having a very productive morning at work as have money money money (debt debt debt!) on my mind. This is the downfall with this site, if I look at it in the morning then I am totally money minded and keep wanting to read more and constantly think about money and my debts. It's a good thing in most ways but not so good when I have lots of work that needs to be done!
Sadly I am the president of the procrastination club. I am always full of good intentions but very rarely see anything through long term. Short term yes, long haul is a definate no so I am scared to set any goals in concrete through fear of failure and in turn another knock on myself. Not a good feeling.
A positive I guess (and I need them) is that my debt is always coming down each month and normally by a good £750 or more per month after interest has gone back on some. The negative, I can't be paying out £900 + per month to debts for the next 3 years, I just can't. There is so much we want to do and especially all being well, have children. There is no way in this world I can afford to pay that amout to debts and be on maternity leave and I don't want to lower my payments or this debt will be looming forever.
Sorry ranting away here, need to think long and hard at just how I am going to tackle this. A by tackle I mean I need to find a way that suits me so that I don't fall at the first hurdle and come back here again starting a new diary. I want rid of this and need to really focus now.
Together with clearing the debts we have our lovely wedding to look forward to so I am keen to actually achieve this without breaking the bank. Thankfully we have great parents who are contributing but it won't cover all of it so we ourselves have a long way to go too!
Right, I feel better for ranting. Sorry to bore anyone that happens to read!

it's so frustrating that it takes ages to pay things off - I'm forever staring at my snowball as if I could make the time to the next payday whizz by :rotfl:
DH and I both had about the same level of debts, so what we've done is pool all our money, bar a set amount of pocket money each month, and once all the household bills are paid it all goes off the debts.
I know your situation is a little different, but since you own a house together and are planning a family, is there anyway your OH would agree to do the same, so you can knock some time off your DFD? After all, it's all "your" money as a couple, especially if you're planning to have kids, so you'll both be in a better state if less money is paid out in interest etc?Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 2016

Thank you. I have often thought about this but i would feel bad (stupid I know!) i'm a tad stubborn in the fact that it was there before we met and why should he suffer. I'm sure come the time we have children that we'll pool together our finances anyway as OH is very much of the traditional nature .... it's me that's little miss independent "I don't want any help thank you very much" - not very good at letting others in to help.
In my mind I want to make the next 10 months count in every sense before the wedding and then re-look at things after this. OH is very good in that he treats us to nice things, keeps us floating when time are tough so I guess in some ways he's already helping me.
I just need to work out a plan of action and stick to it. Starting with working all the overtime that comes my way. None this weekend but there will hopefully be some next week.
Small baby steps all the way but hopefully to a better financial future....
