  • Will be back in a few minutes to find out what everyone's been up to but just have to say that .....

    I HATE BANKS

Just logged in (payday) and have been hit by a load of charges from December that have put me over my OD limit yesterday (by £1.74)...

On phone just now - they won't refund them as say they wrote to me - haven't had any letters from them. (Did say that why would I have money lying in all my other accounts & let this one go OD by such a stupid amount if I knew the charges were going to be added).

They have said tough and to take up with Royal Mail & also just informed me that, yes, I will also be charged next month for going over my OD limit this month.

Well p'd off - sorry for rant (had to get off my chest) and really, really fed up as had tried so hard this month to stay within my limit and reduce it a bit only to loose the whole b****y lot in charges!
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!
  • Moneypenny – congrats on the final car payment! (and glad the talk went well):j
Determined – oh wow, Morocco sounds fabby & how great to be escaping the cold!
Compliments – have you got a Mr A nearby? They used to have work shirts for £4 (very plain but OK) or a M&S retail outlet? The last batch I bought were from there and cost around £15 (1/2 normal price)
Snoop – payday for me too & mine’s gone too! (I do wonder why I actually get excited about it)!
Karb – well done on the not smoking, that’s fab!
Yargo – awwww, sending you virtual HM hot lemon in a flask – hope you feel better soon:grouphug:

Sorry about my bank rant – got a power-lover on the phone who refused to waive the charges, or the ones I’ll now be hit with next month even though she accepts I didn’t know the charges were going to apply & had plenty of funds in my other accounts which I would obviously have shifted had I known.....grrrrr:mad: Asked to speak to her boss to be told that she was the boss. Asked for a goodwill gesture & was told that they didn’t do them (yes, they b~~ping can)!1st time I’ve EVER had a problem with them & banked with them for over 20 years! :(

Anyway, feeling a bit better after reading all the (know this isn’t a word, but can’t think what it should be) positiveness on here – thanks everyone.

    Tasks for today...

Shop @ A*d* rather than Mr A (brilliant veg BTW) done
Get casserole beef out of freezer for tomorrow (1st attempt with new slow-cooker) done
    Do a load of washing
Check bank accounts nearly wish I hadn't!
Transfer money to bank pots done
    Get car tax done
    Organise AutoAid cover

Will be back later (if you'll have me!) off for a nice cold glass of something in order to find my usual pretty even tempered self.:o

Hi folks what a week. Not very MSE in the short term but productive in the long term.

I paid for a course that will help me get a better paid job hopefully by the autumn
I had my sight test to discover I am only just legal to drive without glasses :( so have them to pay for but at least less likely to have an accident.
Went to the dentist and have to have a filling :( but she did me a deal :)
Had an afternoon with my mento / supervisor who gave me lots of tips for work and tip ofs about upcoming jobs all for the price of lunch. Can't apply for my dream job as its with my own GP surgery and after my illnesses last year it wouldn't feel right to be working there, but similar opportunities are likely to follow in others :)

    So all good .

Lilylass your bank sounds rather like mine - Santander ? Although I had similar problems with Halifax some years back. Couldn't even close the account as each month they added charges that sent me overdrawn. It was ridiculous.

Not much from me today :
    • checked banks - I got full pay , don't understand as i thought it would be halfpay , can't decide wether to ring payroll on monday to clarify it as they may then haul it back next month . Suppose I should.
    • got a day ticket for bus as needed to make multiple trips and its actually much cheaper by bus though not quicker
    • have kept in touch with freinds using free texts and emails.
    still need to :
    • do some comps
    • do some surveys
Think I may just chill for the evening to reflect on the day ,I 'm still moving forward but need to think and make decisions based on today. WooHoo for the weekend , a long weekend for me :D

Thanks Picasso, no it's Barclays and I've honestly never had a problem with them at all so very, very frustrated.

Re your pay, it's maybe worth checking, I know it happens at my work sometimes if someone's off say on long term sick, but it's always clawed back.

    Morning all

Woke up to a horrid buzzing noise, had to wake the lodger up to get him to find the source (I'm hearing impaired and can't get direction of sound) Turned out to be my daybreak alarm clock. Hope I can fix it later

Well the day has finally come, I've made the final payment on my car, it's mine yahoo :j:j:j but for some reason they took an extra £80. Have emailed them to find out why.
    It's payday yay :j:j:j

Look DNMS, see I'm trying to find a positive to cancel out the negative :rotfl::rotfl:

    Normal DFW stuff
    • Free tea at work done
    • Charge phone at work done
    • Take packed lunch and snack done
    • Surveys where I can done
    • Make a couple of sorting out calls from work done
    • Tonight is a stop in and wallow night. Boyfriend bought me wine last night so I'm going to drink that in the jacuzzi whilst I do the face pack thingy. Then off to an early night

Talk went okish. Our work schedules don't gel well. He's a DJ and I'm a teacher, I'm up about the time when he gets in etc. sigh. That's the main cause of arguments. I suppose I'll have to buy him a valentines pressie now. Was hoping to save the dosh lol

    Have a good one all

Bit annoyed as I sold my sky+ box on ebay and the buyer is telling me it doesn't work grrr

I think it's time for a letter to the customer complaints section pointing out that you've been with them 20 odd years and this is the first time you've been disappointed with them but boy have they bleeped up big time... Ask what is their normal practise and hint that you may be going to a top rated bank rather than stay where your custom is obviously not valued...

Thanks moneypenny, I may well do that. I can honestly say that I am really (not shocked but I'm not sure how to put it) - I've had problems with many banks in the past but they have always been really helpful so I guess disappointed might be the word to use.

    Will alter sig tomorrow ...
