The £5,000 put into your kids trust fund - deprivation
The repaying loans to your family - deprivation (non priority)
The loans that were going to court - should be alright
Any credit that wasn't going to court - deprivation
Lifting thousands of pounds in 1 transaction "for a rainy day" - deprivation.

The car, probably alright if it's a reasonable family car and you needed one/your old one needed updating.

The furnishings, depends on what state the existing furnishings were in when they were replaced.

OP, you need to be 100% honest with the local authority and get receipts and bank statements together but I really don't see you getting any income support for a long time.

Sorry op, but this looks like deliberate deprivation. You have disposed of £22,500 in just over 3 months! You could have supported yourself, without benefits, for more than 2 years or until you could get a job again. Why should I, on my just above minimum wage, help to support you?

My daughter has no trust fund. This is because I was paying toward keeping those on benefits, and struggling to pay my own bills. She will have my property when my wife and I die, but no money unfortunately. I would love to provide something for my 2 gorgeous granddaughters, but alas, this will not be possible.

let me ask again, if i inherited money when i was working spent it, lost job, when would i be able to claim to be entitled to full benefit.

if you lost your job you would usually claim cont.based JSA(for 6 months) and thats NOT means tested
the problem with the OP is that they have deliberately deprived themselves of capital in order to claim benefits again
  • For HB you need to show 3 months statements.

Mine were questioned as I had a few transfers on them that the person looking at my claim accused me of being "hiding money on other accounts".

That was utter nonsense, one was a payment to my dogwalker for the time when I was working and used a dogwalker, 2 were the money I owed to people.

All 3 were really silly amounts all 3 were to different accounts. The person dealing with my claim insisted those were my "other" accounts and demanded statements for those accounts. Completely ridiculous request considering those were NOT my accounts and I was NOT hiding money or doing anything like that.

My claim has been delayed because of that and I still do not have a decision re HB (since aplying on 2nd December) as they are "looking into it" - sigh....

I had a statement from my bank listing those 3 accounts and names of people they belong to - sent this to Housing.

What makes me laugh is that they do not see a fraud where there is one but look for one where there is none.

That particular woman was trying to argue with me that if it was not my acounts it wuld show on the statements as "payments" but as it showed "transfer" those must be my accounts and I am hiding them..... Where do they find those people? Who trains them?

I've recently closed down three unused bank accounts - any money in them has long since been decanted into my current account - but this was done mainly so as not 'confuse' the benefits people.

Also I intend to bank and save elsewhere when things improve so I have another current account fully set up but only containing only £1.00 (DWP notified lol) until my future earnings start to go in.

.You are not adding much and are confusing the issue.

People on here are very helpful - some people employed by JC or HB or CT amaze me more often than not.... LOL

If that poor woman couldn't understand that "transfer" does not have to mean "to my own other account" , I doubt she is on MSE trying to help anyone ;)

When you withdrew £3,000 for 'a rainy day' what did you spend it on/where did you deposit it?

My definition a 'a rainy day' is if something like your CH boiler breaks and has to be replaced, or perhaps something needing doing that is not covered by household insurance or needing an op due to health problems and being in too much pain to wait on an NHS list so going private that sort of thing.

So either you must have a bill to show how much it was raining that needed 3k spend on it, or you have the money still in another account?
