Roughly the same as the last two posters. Our 3 bedroom Bungalow was built by the Farmer in the 60's and has loft insulation but not 'thick' by todays standards (about 5-6cm) but no wall insulation. Last year the ex boss put in modern double glazed windows and front doors for us though as we were about to start paying a proper rent on the place rather than it being a tied house with the job. We have the heating come on at 6.30am and off at 20.30pm, the boiler is about 16 years old so no doubt not the most efficient anymore and it heats the rads and water tank. We have no inside thermostat control, if it gets cold we go and turn it up up a bit more on the boiler and vice versa but put it no lower than 65 on the dial. Last few weeks I have been 'dipping' the tank every week to get a guage of what the usage is (for re-ordering in mind) and it's going down by 5% every week which on a 1300litre tank is 65L a week.0

An update to this.
Been measuring the oil level of late after topping up.
I think I'd been fooled. It appeared to be virtually empty - the guy doing the filling said it wasn't.
My rough calculations show we had around 300 - 350 l left when we topped up :rotfl:, depending on how much the internal tank tapers towards the bottom....
I reckon I've taken a brief look with the torch and seen the top of the tank reflected in the oil, thinking it was the bottom somehow. I probably inspected it only briefly - disgusted that we'd 'run out'.
I think the boiler stopped working for another reason, the installer just cleaned the flame detector to cure another problem....
Seems like our usage is in line with everyone else on the thread0 -

What we do is hubby peers through and I run my finger down the outside. Soon as hubby sees the shadow reach the level of the oil I mark it. Works for us all the time0
