Are you sure that they were not horrified rather than surprised?0

I obviously reckoned without the power of bank greed and customer inertia.Deleted_User wrote:I can't see IceSave being very popular with the other institutions, with the speed of their rate increase announcement. Surely the others will have to react, probably much earlier than they hoped/forecast, to prevent a large outflow of funds.

I have now had an email from ING stating that they are not increasing their rate at all, but keeping it at 4.75%

Bradford and Bingley now 5.35%. They've also put their ISA up a stingy 0.15% again. They seem to be quite good at this (if a little slow).0

I opened an account with BM recently after checking out all of the deals going via this and many other sources. I moved all of my money into it from ING but I think that I made a mistake by not choosing IceSave. When I noticed the rate being paid on the IceSave account, and the way that they quickly increased this due to the recent BR rise, I emailed BM on 15 November. I pointed out that I was a new customer who had recently made a considerable deposit with them. I quoted the IceSave increase and asked them, politely, if they intended to increase their rate. I received on reply and almost two weeks later, on 27 November, I emailed them again using a little more forceful tone. I also pointed out that my two children were each also looking to open a high interest account and that the IceSave one looked most appealing. On 28 November I received a very brief reply telling me that they do intend to increase rates on 1 December and to phone their dedicated phone team if I had any future queries. It doesn't appear that they bother very much with their email link. I'll be happy with an increase, of course, but I'm not impressed with their initial service. One of their boasts is that they intend to beat ING, it's a pity they can't beat them on the CS side!0
