I must say I'm impressed by ICESave, they were given an excellent opportunity to show up the other banks and they've done it :)

I just hope Halifax will up their ISA Rates.

Yes, I'm impressed too. Particularly with the speed of their rise, it really has shown up the others. Hopefully it'll shake the others into action, will be very curious to see if ING pull their socks up!
  • ICICI have made their move, and have matched IceSaves 5.45% AER, with effect from 10th November (slightly earlier than IceSaves 15th November).

I can't see IceSave being very popular with the other institutions, with the speed of their rate increase announcement. Surely the others will have to react, probably much earlier than they hoped/forecast, to prevent a large outflow of funds.

    Good, innit!

Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully Halifax will up their ISA rates as right now its nowhere near competitive.

Yes, it's the speed that I'm impressed with. I mean, it's no suprise that the BOE rates went up, it's been widely predicted. Banks must have a couple of plans ready for if the rates go up and if they don't. It's just greed that stops them passing on rate rises quickly. Hurrah to banks like Icesave and ICICI for reacting quickly!

Mr rumble made a very nice table last time round with all the updates while the anks were raising their interests.

I hope another table will apper soon from him!
If you are interested in up to date tables, then you may be interested in the easy access savings accounts table which I maintain on the stoozing website (which Martin/MSE sponsors & supports). I aim to keep it fully up to date. The table also shows the date on which the rate was last changed so you can see if an account's rate is pre- or post- the BoE base increase. I am not aware of any other table that provides that information. Hope you find it useful.

I rang ING to see if they had any plans to react to the rate increase and was told that they're planning on releasing something on the 24th Nov. They seemed surprised when I told them a handful of banks had already reacted favourably!
