On the Subject of having 10 pounds in your account and you spend too much, Is it not your responsibility to monitor your balance ?? I would recommend online banking so you can keep an eye on your balance so you don't get charged ! However if you do find that you get charged for being less then 10 pounds overdrawn then under Santanders charging policy they will reverse/refund the charges !!

I got charged £50 for being 14p overdrawn!!! :eek: They reversed it without quibble though and I FP'd a £1 in in from my main Barclays account to bring me back into credit.
OH has just received a new debit card from Santander - he is in the process of moving his account to Barclays who have issued him a full contactless debit card, but he definitely has an embossed one from Santander with the old A&L (account is ex-A&L) AID 4567. I was surprised at this as his account is with collections and I thought they would issue an online one, but its definitely an offline one. I have an A&L one (still valid and they've not sent a new one) and I cant seem to use that anywhere :mad: but my Barclays supposed online one also works on trains whereas my A&L one doesnt!!!
I think Santander are basically a law unto themselves...

Santander apply credits and debits as they are received, not all credits then all debits like RBS for example, so even if you pay the money in to cover the overdraft it will still go over (unless its a debit card payment that hasn't been fully taken yet), plus if you pay it in after 6pm it will put tomorrows date on it so it will look like you didn't even do it on the same day.

It gets re credited after 4 days if its not claimed.

I paid my bills last friday by debit card, and only 1 of them has came off, the money is now back in my account.

It looks like i've got lots to spend when I know for a fact theres less than £10 in the account.

no - they let the debit card payment go. It was a payment for 99p and I had 86p in there (because I dont use the account, I thought there was more in there than there was - my fault) I didnt realise until about 2 weeks later when I got my statement which was when I found out about the charge (I no longer have a PIN for internet banking for this account)
That was when they cancelled the charges for me and I FP'd the money in.

The banks excuses for giving out these disney-looking-cards is what Toe-Jam said. BUT, they're lying, the real reason is that these cards are MUCH cheaper to make! The numbers get torn out in about just a few weeks and they are (and look) very cheap! It looks like a toy! Ridiculous... i'm sorry but there IS something to complain about.

i get jobseekers allowance and DLA and santander gave me an embossed debit card with a £500 overdraft plus a 123 cashback card with a credit limit of £2400 and im only 18 so i dont understand why prople on this (who probabley earn a lot more than me) cant get this type of card or indeed the credit facilities santander are giving me. The debit card i have starts with 4547 so does that make it an offline one ? :beer:

Reply if you agree that disabled people have the same rights to credit facilities with banks as other people. Speak out against the minority small minded people in today's society.
