hi poppy, i've bought extra pillows already lol! having high pillows stops me vomiting blood in the mornings (from my nose, it bleeds in the night and i swallow it - ick!!). i still blow blood from my nose in the mornings but it's not a proper nosebleed. one night i used the extra pillows around my bump instead of to keep my head high and there was loads of blood next morning so it definitely helps to have high pillows :-)

spendless i don't see the consultant again, she said i was fine. no midwives appointment for another 4 weeks, they hardly see us really. i haven't had migraine today or over the weekend and i feel okay. hubby is worried about my blood pressure though so he's going to ask his sister, she's a hospital sister. if i'm worried by wed/thurs i'll see the midwives on thursday as that's their day to be at my doctors surgery, i'll make an appointment for then if i don't feel well. it's really difficult to know what to do about migraines though, some doctors think you should take them seriously, others just dismiss you as a whinger. if i thought the baby was in any danger i'd get checked out anyway whether the doctor thought i was moaning or not. later on in the pregnancy i'll be more worried but i'd been told you can't get pre-eclampsia this early. thanks for the advice :-)

Good luck to all of you pregnant ladies, its a very special time but I remember very clearly how nervous I was too all the time. I am pretty sure my son's head was engaged from about 32 weeks. I remember all of a sudden how my walking position changed and I started to "waddle" - its was very dignified!
Like Jellyhead I also had a lot of headaches but the doc gave me a prescription for a nasal spray (beconaise?) that was pretty effective.
If you are over 30 weeks I would receommend drinking raspberry leaf tea (can buy bags in Holland and Barrat) and drinking 4 a day. I did this every day and also spent half a hour every night on all fours to encrouage my baby into a frontal position. Got extremely lucky with a 1 1/2 hour labour!
I got home from my evening class last night and my son was up as he has been teething. he was sitting with his dad on the couch in his jammies and when I walked into the room he looked at me and said hiya - he is 14 months old and it is just amazing!

aww, that sounds cute :-) i can remember the first time my son called me mum, mind you he was 3 and a half so i'd been waiting for it lol!

what does raspberry tea do? i might ask about beconase then, i already take a steroid inhaler for my asthma so i assume steroids are okay during pregnancy.

i couldn't squeeze into my trousers today for work, i had to wear a loose skirt while my maternity trousers are on order, it's so embarassing as i'm only 20 weeks pregnant lol!

You've done well to last until 20 weeks without maternity clothes. I was in skirts for work at 15 weeks as I was afraid my skirt would fall down with the button and zip open a bit and just an elastic band holding it all :). Mind you when I went for my first appointment with my consultant at 11 weeks he could feel my bump. He said it was very unusual unless twins or further along. However I had a scan at 6 weeks so my dates were confirmed and there was only 1 baby. It was all down to the excess liquor (Polyhydramnios not too much alcohol!).

I think it Raspberry leaf tea that - if started early enough - is meant to induce labour!!??!! I could be wrong.

Thats great going Jelly to not be in maternity clothes at 20 weeks. With my second I was in mine much earlier than that - more like 10 weeks. LOL.

maybe my being a bit on the porky side before getting pregnant makes a difference - i gain weight with PMS so i already had clothes in 2 sizes lol! i was just surprised because with my first baby i was a size 12 and you couldn't tell i was pregnant until 8 months, except for me being a bigger bra size (and i was quite happy with that lol!). i thought that with me being a size 18-20 this time before i got pregnant that there would be plenty of room for the baby to hide but it seems it's not the case lol!

Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to induce labour and they recommend you don't drink it at certain times (but I'm not sure when these times are) - check with your midwife first.

Well that's my memory anyway. I don't remember when you're supposed to start drinking it from but I certainly couldn't have got four cups of it down each day which is probably why my labours were so l o o n g

Yes sorry you're right - you're not meant to start drinking the tea until 32 or 35 weeks - it says on the box exactly when. I honestly think that this helped me, when I started labour pains I walked about and whoosh everything just took off after half an hour.
I didnt think it gatsed that bad, but you can get tablets too. its meant to help exercise your muscles, so it makes the contractions kore powerful and more efficient.
You can also try perenial massage but thats alother story altogether!

    Hello Everybody,

It's me with the cervical nosebleed again... I have had a week of bedrest, felt great to lie in and watch the snow fall. Bleeding has stopped and I am feeling less tired, except that now I have a chest infection... I have also had my 10.5week scan last week and all is well with baby :) what a relief and how amaazing. Baby is 15cm long and was moving about up and down in the space provided :) and was waving.... it was promise :)
    Baby was so active.

anyhow, both hubby and I were so delighted, we could not stop grinning, until I heard the radiographer say to her assistant that my placenta looked low but that we would have to wait until the 20 week scan to know for sure. The nite before I was reading about this condition placenta praevia in the boots magazine and knew it was not a good sign. I asked the radiograpgher about this and she said that the reason she did not say anything to me was because 60% of woman start off this way. She was not very nice.

My understanding of implantation is that where the baby puts down roots "placenta" is baby's link to mom and cannot be changed. So how is this condition gonna correct itself ?

I have read disturbing stuff about this condition and am worried. Apparently any pressure on cervix can cause "mis" Hubby is annoyed with me and says I should be enjoying this but instead I cling to negative. I am just so nervous as I have had so many scares now. A doctor friend has told my mom that this is touch and go.

Anybody had this condition with a happy ending ???
