The 100% tint I refer to is layman's speak for a range of tint from barely tint through to light brown, mid brown upto very dark brown. I've got some genuine raybans that are very dark when wearing them and you can't see my eyes if you were talking to me. That's what I'd call full (100%) tint. The goggles4u website does allow you to select a tint % range from 10% to 100% (which isn't actually impemetrable, merely the darkest they can make them without making you blind).
No, not an optician, used to work in an opticians for many years !!
Didnt mean to criticise what you had written just that the website quotes a 100% tint which to me is nonsense, sorry if i offended, you spent ages trying to word it so i didnt come across as a git.

No probs Mishka.
I did spend ages wording that last post as I knew what you meant but also knew what I was trying to say - which was basically the same only different!.
No worries and have a good night.Anger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

Hi,
my prescription is: R -6.50/-1.00/145 and L -5.50/-1.25/170. I have a cheap pair from specsavers and they're pretty thick- 6mm and 5mm on the outer side of the lenses. I'm looking to get thinner lenses than the specsavers pair. Do you know what index the standard lenses from specsavers are? Thanks0 -
Your prescription is actually quite high, your specsavers lenses would have been 1.498 in standard. Goggles4u use this as their standard as well. The pair I received however were a thinner material and I wasnt charged extra.
The thickness of your lenses can be helped by the size frame you choose, the smaller the better, as well as picking a high index lens.
Thespectaclecase.co.uk supply 1.6 as standard (the higher the number the thinner the lens) inc a anti-glare coating and seem quite good with the range of frames but i havent used them personally.
There is also a site that uses 1.67 as standard but I cant find them right now (this is thinner again but only slightly)
If you wanna take a gamble you could do as i did and send a request for thinner lenses with your order to goggles4u but there is no guarantee what they will use !!

If you're a Costco member, it's worth trying there. Lenses are a standard £45, and that includes anti-scratch coating, UV coating, anti-reflective coating, and the lenses and the thinner, lighter ones.
I know that most opticians charge an extra £30 or so for each of those extras.
My glasses cost £100 all-in.

Also, Costco do reading spectacles for £10 (three pairs!!).0

Thought I would add my 10 pence worth. I ordered from G4U 2 weeks ago, received the glasses, all absolutely fine. Good communication, well packed and seem well made also. Only one moan was that the polyflex frame needed adjustment, took them to local specsavers and they did it for free!!!
I would definitely recommend G4U and will use them again.0 -

I paid by Paypal, so took advantage of the exchange rate, and that's what it went through at - saving an extra £1.02!!

Hi Sarah,
I was just wondering whether you've received your specs from goggles4u yet? Mine was noted down as dispatched on the 7th but I still havent received them and when I queried it with them they just sent back a generic reply apologising for the delay but not actually confirming any details?!
Thanks0 -
