Is value pasta OK?

Just doing my online order and whilst pretty well most of what I order is either Tesco Value or Sainsbury's Basics, I haven't tried value dried pasta for years. I've convinced myself that it tasted very cardboardy but given the lack of ingredients in pasta realistically it can't be much different to the normal Tesco/Sainsbury versions.
The value pasta is much cheaper than the ordinary stuff so I'd like to give it a go but I do a bulk order so don't want to order loads if it's nasty and the stores are miles away.
Is it OK?

I've tried it and its fine. Its not as nice as premium pasta imo, but is very good with a nice sauce.0

I always use value pasta and find it great as long as you don't over cook it - just the same as any other pasta.0

It's not great, but then again considering it's less than half the price of normal own-brand pasta - it's not less than half as good, iyswim. It's good for what you pay for it, and with a nice pesto or other sauce it's fine.0

I like value pasta, but I like to cook it a few minutes longer, if boiling, than I would the 'dearer' pasta to soften it abit more - may just be my preference though. For the price it's good.2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

I don't like value pasta. But I always buy Tratorria from Mr T, which is perfect!
However, Basic Pasta is a little betterWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
I think sains basics pasta is much nicer than tesco value, you can definitely tell the difference.0

i only buy the morrisons value pasta, as we all prefer the twist's. i not too keen on the tubes with sains and tesco seem to be.i have a bag of tubes but not used them yet.
i've never had a prob with value pasta, i boil water with a little salt and oil. when boiling add the pasta, bring back to boil, give it a couple of stirs, then when boiling again, i put lid on and turn gas off. leave 10 mins and it is perfect. doesn't stick and nice and tender. i don't like it al dente tho. i do the same method when cooking value spagheti.0
