Itunes fraud

I had my account hacked in November, but I've never linked my credit/debit card to iTunes, just used iTunes cards.
I was wiped out with 2 transactions, so I emailed iTunes and they refunded me after a few days telling me to change my password (which was a tricky one to begin with so nothing to stop hackers trying again)
My advice is only to use giftcards and never link to bank accounts.
iTunes have got to sort this out though, absolute joke that people are having these types of problems!!0 -
I had my account hacked into last year and nearly 40 quids worth of stuff bought from my account. i was shocked to see that there were quite a few weird games that were downloaded i had never heard of and some of the games was in chinese! i logged into my account, changed my password and from the account u can report items u havent bought. i did that and within 24 hours i got an email from apple and following that i got another email which informed me that the account was topped up with 40 quid. i did email to find out where the downloads were done but they could not divulge that information.
hope this helps

They have taken out of my bank account in 16 speperate transactions £20.00 my bank states they did this ever 10 seconds from around 9.25. they got 16 b4 my card was stopped and then proceed and failed to take a further 11 £20.00. now this has earmarked on my account my card has been stopped ect but my bank cant get involved for 14 days by law. I have contact apple who say you cant call itunes you can only email them, but the manager i spoke to was very helpful and sent the email for me. I tunes i have 24 hrs to respond they havent so i have proceeded to send a further email today.
Have you or are you suffering the same problem with them. Need advice. I have the general knowledge that itunes will have to sort this out as it is fraudulant on their part. but OMG this is a company were supposed to trust with our card details. why are they allowing this to happen.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Hi
I read this post looking for information on what to do with this type of fraud.
On 25/01 5 attempts of £25 were taken from my account, only on the 5 attempt did the bank step in and stop. they called me on 26/01 for me to verify the transaction which was fraudulent and by itunes.
I don't know what to do next, i want to complain to itunes but i cannot find an email address, i also don't want to give itunes my new card details.
Looks like we were both hacked on the same night and same tim (bank told me it was between 9.24 and 9.25)0 -
it's being reported in the tech press now about itunes fraud to UK users
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/01/25/itunes_gifting_scam/
and

how do prevent yourself being apart of the fraud?
simply remove your debit/credit card from your itunes account
- go do it now before it's too late
I didn't even realise that you could do this, have done it now, as a friend of ours has had his account hacked and a £130 taken before his bank stopped it!0 -
This happened to my mum, they managed to get 10 gift cards of £10 before the bank stopped it, she emailed iTunes to try and get her money back and they said it was nothing to do with them![STRIKE]Seventeen[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Eighteen[/STRIKE] Nineteen(!) year old student - dim at the best of times0

FYI I've had a variation on this theme. Got Ipad for Xmas and gave little used credit card details as method of purchasing Ipad apps. They were the only items that should have appeared on credit card bill but additional payments have gone through since & before card was cancelled. There should be a general warning out about Itunes ......
See next post, hey I'm just a newbie at this lark)

I should have mentioned the additional payments were not through Itunes - various companies involved!0

Blow me, I have bin using iTunes for about 8 years now and have never had a problem!
Though some of the music is not for your Grandmother or Granddaughter0 -
Using a credit card? They must look after their regulars and go for the new kids on the block ....
There are prob millions like you but it's no comfort to them what gets done0
